Opinions on 1.5 tsi evo Airintake

I'm currently deciding between the RTMG and Forge intakes for my 1.5 TSI Evo in my Leon. After doing quite a bit of research, it seems like the RTMG intake offers the best performance in terms of cold air intake, but I'm also looking for a good sound to match my custom exhaust.

From what I’ve gathered, the RTMG intake is praised for its performance, especially regarding cold air intake. However, I’ve also heard that the Forge intake creates a louder sound, which some people find appealing. That being said, many people suggest that the RTMG intake still outperforms the Forge intake in terms of performance, despite the Forge's more pronounced sound. The RTMG intake is also said to produce a more pronounced “woosh” sound at higher RPMs, due to its ripple design, which is something I’m considering for both the auditory experience and performance benefits.

I’d like to hear your thoughts on which intake might be the best overall for sound and performance, particularly as I plan to get a remap in early 2025.

Correct me if I’m wrong in my research, but based on what I’ve found, I’d love to hear your insights on which intake would be the better option

You would be better off with a good panel filter, and removing the baffle from the stock air box, would save money and give you the same power gain

There's a Forge dump valve they sell a kit for if you want the whoosh noises, putting a panel filter does make the induction noise a small bit louder, but I genuinely don't find the 1.5 engine gives a nice noise regardless. Mine just sounds harsh when I rev it anything above 4,000. I'm comparing that to driving the 1.0 TSI which sounds absolutely cracking when you rev it.

That would be best, but not always a viable option. If you want induction noise, get the open Forge kit. The RTMG will probably be a bit more quiet. Did you also check if Ramair has a kit for your engine?

This ☝🏼 What about bigger induction hose, and turbo inlet elbow as well?

think ill buy the dump valve with the inudction

do you think getting RTMG intake then swapping the induction hose with turbo inlet elbow be the best option?

i did see ramair but the reviews comapred to RTMG and forge i think these are the best two for the 1.5tsi

Doubt either is going to gain any performance, in fact the Forge design will probably cost you power on a hot day, so probably just down to what sounds best.

Performance-wise, I’m not looking to increase horsepower; I just want to maximize airflow to my engine to help keep it cool. When it comes to noise, wouldnt it just be the the hose and turbo inlet elbow creating the noise?

You could also get a turbo muffler delete.

It's not so much creating a noise, it's allowing you to hear the exisiting noise of the air being drawn in, and possibly sounds from the turbo and recirc valve etc. Manufacturers do their best to reduce that noise as your average driver will probably find it annoying. The airbox not only filters the air, it also acts as a sound deadener.

The engine itself is cooled via the radiator and cooling system and the incoming air is cooled by the intercooler. The only reason you want cold air going into the intake is that it's denser so there is more of it. The most efficent way of doing that is an airbox and a performance panel filter, any sort of induction kit like the forge is going to be drawing in hotter air than standard. On a turbo car its not so much of an issue though, hence why i said go with whatever sounds best.

Airbox +performance panel filter..... Best power but quiet
Forge... sounds best, proably gonna loose 5 bhp on a hot day
RTMG... No experience of it but probably somewhere in between the other 2 oprions.
