~88000km driven and car required engine oil, cabin filter and brake fluid change. During change a leak between gearbox and driveshaft was noticed. It must be some fresh malfunction, because gearbox was dry in the March this year. I will have to address this sooner rather than later.

Also installed some of underside covers which should reduce fuel consumption and road noise.

It's interesting that you've fitted the under-aero as I am planning on the same next week....

Did you fit 5Q0 825 229 C front and 5Q0 825 206 K rear?

Getting this lot fitted today... Sachs Race Engineering organic clutch and new flywheel... Plus maybe front mudflaps and Audi A3 jacking points if there is time...

Happy birthday to me 😁

Great day on the track today, Had a great time with a proper MINI (British Leyland not BMW) who was running a 1360cc engine so had tons of power. Noticed that he and I were enjoying the very wet afternoon but the rear wheel cars were having trouble from stopping the back stepping out and we had a great run of 10 laps both pushing our motors and lots of grins when we came off the track.

Morning was very damp to start with and we had a red flag on the sighting lap where somebody had come off the track on the first lap.

Got another day booked for the weekend which looks like another mixed bag of weather so looking forward to doing the same again.

Another great day out on the track, lots of rain and wind made it a very exciting day had a few 90 / 180 degree spins in front of me along with one guy who just could not stop and kept going straight instead of turning sharp right.

They had to close down early (2-30) as the rain got very heavy and to many cars were spinning off but generally allowing for the weather the marshals did a great job in keeping the track open but safe for every body

Had my DQ250 box serviced today at a local specialist, as Seats pricing is crazy now and they didn’t want to touch a remapped gearbox.

Gave Rob at RMD Automatics a shout - super knowledgeable on absolutely anything gearbox related, answered all my questions and more than happy to work with my own parts (I got him to vette my selection, then supplied my choice of oil, new filter etc).

Can honestly say the gearbox has NEVER felt as nice as it does now, not even when I first got the car! Changes are buttery smooth, I couldn’t believe how much of a difference a service and oil change could make on these DSG units!
If you’re in the Staffordshire/Midlands area id definitely recommend him

Took the old girl out for her last track day of 2024 and had a blast.

Only 15 motors so track was very fast flowing, managed 12.1 mpg for the day which is always a good sign that the motor was used well.

Saw my first Blue Flag (Big BMW Going slow in front of me) in a long time

Saw first spin off that required the Ambulance team to check out the driver (who looked a bit shook up).

Re-learnt the art of changing gear and re-ajusting the sun visor due to sun being very low in the sky and Cadwell being a very up/down track.

Very happy with all the Mods I have made this year and the change to 5W-40 Ester synthetic oil should help protect the engine to improve longevity🤞

It’s an absolute pig of a job to do when it’s 1*c outside - and needed a healthy application of hairdryer as the cold butyl did not want to mould to all the bumps and curves! I’ll probably fill some more of the gaps if I have any left after I do the boot wheel well in preparation for Seat Sound

Third oil and filter change done in the two years and 11,150 miles since I bought the car.
Went for genuine oil and air filters along with Quantum 5W40 oil.
Also sprayed suspension bushes with WD40 silicone - has quietened them up for now anyway.

How do you remove the rear bench? Is it pretty straight forward? Has it made a big difference?
It’s literally a 2 minute job. Pull the iso fix plastic surrounds/covers up and slightly backwards to release them. Then a sharp tug on the front corner of each end of the bench - it then just lifts out easily!

Has definitely made a difference, as I can’t hear fuel sloshing around in the tank any more. And the kids have reported the back seems quieter (and I didn’t tell them I’d changed anything, so blind test). Not night and day, but for the sake of a few hours I think it was worth it
