Rear camera falls out…

An update. The car was in for MOT a month and half later and the local Cupra garage said they could do the camera then. Took them a week and half as they couldn’t get the system happy when calibrating the new camera. All done and dusted under the warranty and everything working fine now.

I love the Cupra VX2 PHEV estate but happy it’s going back in October. Can’t be doing with issues out of warranty.

Glad you got your camera replaced under warranty, my car was returned at the end of the lease with the camera having been missing for over 9 months and at a stalemate with the dealer (Motorvogue Northampton). The dealer went from "someone must have knocked the camera off" to "it was stolen you should claim on your insurance", which I refused to do as I want my no claims bonus). On returning the car the battery after 3 years was barely holding a charge after only 16k, any cold weather and it would warn it was undercharged you could drive 150 miles and next day, same thing. The 48v "mild hybrid" battery was also warning every so often. Any temp under 4º and the parking sensors would not work, warn of an imminent crash, or claim all safety detection systems were disabled due to a fault. 3 yrs of constant electrical niggles, being stuck on two occasions when despite refusing the OTA updates the car did it all by itself (including blocking some poor sod's driveway for 20 minutes as it turned itself off when it shifted into neutral and park on doing a three point turn).

The dealer service was abysmal.

Wow. I feel for you. I’m glad my experiences have not been anything like that. And I think my wife is glad also, cos I’d have been a nightmare to live with if I had that going on.

I had the screen issues, but 2 updates then permanent ingognito mode seems to have sorted that. The front sensors occasionally don’t work. There is a droning noise when the car is in petrol only mode. Cupra Sunderland were twice asked to look at that but they said no issue. And the battery is good enough for my use. 15-20 miles depending on weather, but I usually do hybrid anyway so the battery is there just for the boost.

I wasn’t impressed with Cupra Sunderland so took it to Cupra Darlington for the camera. Despite it taking a while I’m very happy they fixed it and under warranty.

Onwards and upwards. Better look with your next vehicle!

Same problem - camera fell off Seat Leon Estate FR First Edition on Sunday - and my car is only 2.5 years old.

I've been told by my Seat dealer that it won't be covered by the manufacturer's warrantee, and quoted:
* £144 labour to fit new camera
* £250 calibration of new camera (they said they use a local BMW dealer because they don't have the equipment or skills, so charge me to cover their costs!!)
* £??? for parts - they've not told me yet, but I see people on here saying £600 and waiting moths.

So I've spoken with SEAT's customer service about things falling off their car.

They said that the dealer MUST see the car in person and run a diagnostic before confirming if it's covered under the manufacturing warrantee, (so maybe it is, unless they can prove otherwise ??), but also said that I'd be charged for the diagnostic if it's not covered. (Computer says computer must be used. Computer asks 'can you see the missing camera?' Computer says 'not covered, £120 please'.)

SEAT Customer Services also couldn't give me a list of what is and isn't covered under warrantee. They directed me to talk to THEIR insurers, as they are the ones who decide on a case by case basis (???).

Sad to say, this car has been riddled with issues since day one - a repeatedly dead battery, a failed rear washer pump, a failing interior light unit (it would instantly turn back on when turned off), lots of software issues the latest of which is android auto refusing to connect, brake and gear issues.

But still a lovely car to drive (when not braking,haha)

Got same issue on my 2021 Seat Leon e-Hybrid. I went to the SEAT dealership to get it checked quickly, but they refused to look at the car without an appointment. Fair enough. They then gave me an appointment after three weeks. Before they booked the appointment, I explained the situation and asked if it was covered under warranty, since the part fell off while I was driving, which seems like a manufacturing issue. They said yes, the warranty would cover it.

Fast forward to my appointment at the SEAT dealership, and they still refused to take a look at the car. I told them I had only purchased the car three months ago from a non-SEAT dealer. They then informed me that if the car wasn't purchased from SEAT and it had crossed the three-year mark, it wouldn't be covered under warranty. I had waited almost four weeks just to be told this. They didn't check the vehicle, nor did they mention any of this when I first visited.

They also told me the diagnostic cost would be £100, which I would have to pay upfront before they'd inform me of any further costs to fix the issue.

Now, I'm trying to contact the dealer who sold me the car to see if they can repair it, since I've only had it for less than four months and I'm already facing this issue. The SEAT dealer has not been very helpful at all. Even booking the recall on my car was a nightmare—they wanted me to pay for a courtesy car, and I had to explain that I shouldn't be paying if it's for a recall.

This is my first time trying a SEAT, and it hasn’t been a great experience so far. My PHEV loses 3-4 miles of battery range after traveling just 1 mile.

The next thing will be the charge flap won’t close or lock because the actuator is knackered from being left open in the rain. If the previous owner never bothered charging it then you may not have that problem (just a poor battery instead). Best of luck.

That happened to me and had to replace the actuator my self. got it on internet for 30€. If I would go to the dealer it would probably be around 200€. Had to replace a one of the rear parking sensors too. it started giving error when raining until it stayed on constant error. Again, found on ebay somenone selling the sensors painted in the proper color for 45€ and replaced it myself. The first year I had to replace a front sensor because of a chip and it was 300€ on the dealer.

Does anyone know if it’s possible to buy just the camera lens or glass? The OEM camera is priced at £300-£400. I’ve taken apart my camera, and everything is working fine—it's just the front glass/lens that’s missing. I haven’t been able to find anyone selling this part separately.

I don't think you will find it the manufacturer have the supplier pretty tide up so not possible to get spare parts.

Weiß jemand, ob es möglich ist, nur das Kameraobjektiv oder das Glas zu kaufen? Die OEM-Kamera kostet 300 bis 400 £. Ich habe meine Kamera auseinandergenommen und alles funktioniert einwandfrei – es fehlt nur das Frontglas/Objektiv. Ich konnte niemanden finden, der dieses Teil einzeln verkauft.

Nah, that stuff is calibrated in production. No option nor any sense in DIYing it.

Finally got it sorted! I took it to a non-dealer garage. There were some calibration issues since I went for a used camera form another car, but overall it cost me £400.

i have seen the same camera on AliExpress for £30 £400 is crazy, shame you could not just take take the lens off a new one and swap it over.

Ouch. We're cheaper for a new camera with a 2 year warranty...

There's absolutely no reason why you should have calibration issues if they've correctly configured the camera. Being from another car doesn't make a difference, the configuration process is the same.
