Quick rant here, but something I feel needs to be mentioned.
I'm off work at the moment after a big shoulder operation, and decided a couple of weeks ago that I wanted to get a DSG service done on my 2019 2.0TDI Leon when I start driving again, hopefully early next week. The car has done just over 30k miles, but I want it done early, so it's out of the way and no where near the mileage recommendation that SEAT have stated.
I've spoken to a local VW independent who has been highly recommended to me, and have the car booked in a week Friday for a full DSG service including all filters, VAT etc for £225 all in, with a "no problem if you need to rebook if you're not driving by then after your op"
As a matter of interest, I rang my local SEAT dealer to get a comparison price, and was greatly concerned by the advice and information they have given me.
1. Firstly, they tried to tell me that my car, according to the reg number and VIN number, which they BOTH checked, had a 6 speed MANUAL gearbox and didn't need a DSG service. They actually asked if I was sure it was a DSG - I've had the car for 15 months, so I think I would have worked out by now whether it was manual or automatic FFS!
2. They then said that was an error, and that it had a 6 speed DSG. They would not believe me that it has a 7 speed, and then again insisted it should be a manual according to their database.
3. They then agreed that yes it had a DQ200 7 speed DSG gearbox that was on an 80,000 mile service interval, and that filters are cleaned out rather than replaced during the service.
4. Next, they said this was wrong, and that the DQ200 was actually a sealed for life gearbox that required no maintenance whatsoever.
5. After that, they came back to me and said that with the car having done 30k miles, it was overdue as yes it did need a service, and that it should have been done at 25,000 miles, that filters were cleaned not replaced, and that they wanted the car the night before to make sure it is cold, then for all the following day, at a cost of £368+vat.
So do the dealers really know what the hell they are talking about??? I think not. I'll stick to the independent....
Rant over - I'm fuming that the info the dealers could potentially cost huge repair bills for gearbox and mechatronic replacement at later dates.
