Hi, I'm new to this forum. Apologies if this has already been posted (I've searched but couldn't find anything), is there a way to switch off the audible warning when the boot opens? I've searched the manual and online. Thanks

When you say " when the boot opens" is it a button press on the keyfob that opens it ?

I didn't have it on my Audi, it sounds ridiculous, why would I want to warn myself that my boot is opening 😆

I had the auto opening on my Mk3 Hatch and pressed the button just as someone walked passed and I was lucky
that it missed them, so its not for you its for other people

So again why would you want to disable a safety feature, so just think if you did disable it and you hit someone while
it was going up and they sued you ! would it it be all worth it ?
I'm only asking as it wasn't on my 3 year old Audi, or on my Seat Ateca. I just think it's a useless feature. I never open the boot until I'm at the car any way

The door has "Rebound protection" so on opening or closing if it meets resistance it stops or reverses. It really isn't going to hurt anyone. People brushed against by a power tailgate - which let's face it, if someone was walking past your car an inch away you wouldn't open it at that time anyway - they aren't going to sue anyone.

What would happen if I opened the drivers door into someone walking past an inch away without giving a warning noise? Or the passenger door? These doors open far wider and faster and would potentially cause more damage. Ask a cyclist!

The warning sounds when opening the boot when you may not be near it (i.e. the switch in the drivers door or from the keyfob), it doesn't sound when pressing the boot button or the kicking under the car as you're typically standing by the boot.

But I find it more annoying than useful as there are times I'm opening the boot to plug the car in late at night and it sounds so loud when everywhere is quiet, I do wonder if it drives my neighbours mad!

So I think there's more benefit in turning it off than leaving it on, I don't recall anyone leaping out of the way when it sounds for example, in a supermarket car park. But if the only way is OBD11, then annoying is what it will remain.

What is an OBD11? Thanks

It’s the software that can update the configuration of the car on VW group vehicles, plugs in via the OBD (On Board Diagnostics) port on the car. You can change country specific things to other counties settings, various other configurable settings, etc. but at risk of the dealer discovering you‘ve been changing things and voiding warranty or even bricking the car.

See the thread in the top section of the main Formentor page (OBDEleven) for ones that people have found to work or requested.

Hi, my previous motor, 2017 Tiguan had beeping when the remote tailgate opened. I changed this, using Carista, to disable the beep and replaced it with the rear side lights coming on when the tail gate opened
