Hi, looking at lowering springs for my 2017 (67) Leon Fr 5 door with solid rear axle. I’ve seen a few on here with 30mm drop springs but was looking at a 40mm drop from eibach.
If anyone has these how are they and any pics if possible.
Thanks, scott

Hi, 2018 FR here. I've been looking at the same thing too. No pics but something to be aware: Spring manufacturers' specs are generally a little bit optimistic, when they say 40 one should expect 30mm drop max. Also FR chassis being already dropped 15mm by the factory, max drop a 40 would provide for your car is 15mm, more or less.

I’m in the process of doing a big suspension change on my 2015 (15 plate) Leon FR 1.4tsi (150) with rigid rear axle at 79k miles. I’m using;
- Bilstein B8 shortened shocks (Front & Back)
- Vogtland -45mm springs
- Bilstein B1 top mounted (Front & Back)
- Superpro Front Anti-Roll Bar
- Superpro rear heavy duty drop links
- Whiteline front heavy duty drop links
(Also need a new front wheel hub)
I’ve got before and after photos of a mate with vogtland -45mm springs on stock shock absorbers.
A -45mm drop will look more like a -30mm on an FR on stock shocks… but B8 shocks accommodate lowering springs so will sit lower than oem with lowering springs.

How do you find the B8 shocks compared to stock shocks with lowering springs?

Horrible… I changed to YSR coilovers about a month after fitting the full B8 setup it was so stiff and zero give (would have made a good track setup)… I think B6 shocks would have been a better idea than the B8s for street use

Oh wow didn't expect you to say that! I only asked because I am lowered on eibach pro springs (35mm drop front, 30mm drop rear) and trying to figure out when I need to do the shocks what should I go for...it won't be Bilstein b8 anyway!

Sorry to beat a dead horse in this thread, but did you manage to get any photos comparing the 30mm vs the 40mm drop? Contemplating between the two when doing my suspension next week.

Getting the Koni FSD shocks.

Currently have the ST by KW Sport springs and shocks on the 30mm ST springs. I’ll either keep the 30mm ST springs and pair it with the Koni shocks, or get the 40mm springs from Eibach or H&R.

The car is an FR so it is that slight bit lower from factory.
