Also with the backlit heater controls. ALSO deleted the [distinctive] round fog lights .
SAD but my experiences of the old system totally peed me off so kept my old car.
SO want to try again for a VZ3

Cheers Andy

You mean the facelift? The 24 model year is still the old formentor. New one will be released during the fall. If you ordered now, u will still get the current formentor even if its 2024 model year

You're not buying a car because it doesn't have an engine cover? I tend to think of the bonnet as the engine cover and never lift it other than to add washer fluid anyway....

Never had a screen freeze either.

The used market has taken a significant price dip recently, so timing may be good right now actually.

People have received new engine covers by now. Some have been waiting months, even years, but it's happening.

Best make an engine cover and software 1940 terms of your purchase ideally. Doesn't mean you won't have other issues down the line of course, but 1940 stops the reboots for sure. Infotainment is never mobile phone responsive, but it never freezes.

Waiting for the facelift Formentor mk1.5 could be worthwhile if you don't mind the new look. It's likely they will have engines covers fitted and will have improved the infotainment responsiveness, giving it backlit temp controls, and possibly a multi-function volume control knob will return. The listprice will be higher and it won't be any faster 0-60 than the mk1 Formentor.

Am I missing the point over engine covers? Genuinely - there's no functional purpose they serve that I'm missing? To me it's just unnecessary extra piece of plastic adding weight to the car for a purely aesthetic function - which you barely ever see anyway as it's hidden under the bonnet. The only function I can see it serves is to stop the engine designers having to make everything neat and tidy, they just have to design this instead with its fake intake plenums and badges.

I'd much rather see the real engine and as you may have guessed by now, can't bear the fake, unnecessary (as far as I'm aware) covers, especially on the bigger engine equipped cars (V8s, V12, etc.), all you see under the bonnet of an Aston Martin, AMG Merc, BMW, etc. is a sea of plastic, almost a second bonnet!

Yes love them. Would buy a special one of it existed.
Love polishing them. Keeps out the dust. Stops dirt collecting in the cavities. Tidies it all up. Makes engine bay look stunning.
I regularly check ALL the underbody fluid levels. And visible hoses and drive belts for leaks damage and integrity.
Pride in my car
My Leon Cupra is all black no labels. Looks stunning.
Each to there own eh!

I do agree, I'd like to see more Engineering, but having said that they do way more than hide the 'Ugly bits', keeping crap n dust off the connectors and out of other bits n bobs you don't want dirt on or in.

In addition there's the (if done well) thermodynamic function, directing hot air where you do want it and cold air to where it's needed.

Also agree, my car is only complete when it gets that cover for all the same reasons. Being a Scot I wouldn't pay extra for a fancier one though.:D
