I have a 2019 FR ST in the 1.5 TSI 150ps variant and it seems to have the actuator rod rattle that the 1.4/1.5's experience. However all information on fixes are for either the 1.4 or the 2.0 engine and the rod looks different to those engines. Is the fix still the same? (High temp grease).

I see some people use this little clip on the 2.0 engines but wondered if it would work for the 1.5.

Any ideas from others?

I believe that this repair kit should be provided for free, and not sold for exorbitant money

Thanks for your reply. Agree it's ridiculous they're charging for this! Spoke to the parts team who said the part without the 'A' on the end includes the actuator rod, would I need that too? Or just the washer and circlip?

no rod required. The factory must install this repair kit free of charge and apologize for its mistakes to the consumer. I accidentally found a new turbine and actuator on the market. Installed and there is no sound.

I have some unresolved issues and would like to chat with a vag group engineer about certain issues. I believe that engine creators should not work for such gross mistakes and the cars should be tested for 400,000 km. I feel any problems when I drive

I still haven't tried them but the reference photo you shared is not the 1.5 tsi DADA engine actuator so I can't say if those clips would work.

Yeah I know that those are from the different engines actually. The rod looks the same though. And the clip for turbo wastegate lever also has those "notches" at 1.5 TSI engines so it might fit as well. I'll give it a try and let you know if it helped or not.

Interested to learn how you get on with them!

My 2021 Leon has started to rattle at 2000 rpm and when I looked the rod is slack when I looked at it.
Couple of questions for anyone that's fixed this.
1. Do you have to get the old clips off and what's the best way?
2. Have any of the cheap ones from Ebay aliexpress etc work or do you need a genuine repair kit even though the rod is fine?
3. Do you need to change lips on both ends? Because one looks a pain in the arse to get into.

Just put the one from ali that i mentioned and the rattling will be fixed. I also updated engine SW and can confirm that it fixes the "kangaroo" issue.

Took my car in for service & MOT today at Crewe Seat, I mentioned that I have the turbo actuator rod rattle, really noisy on start up for about 10 seconds. They said they'd never heard about this before, but it's probably normal !! I said that there are repair kits to sort this problem so it's definitely not normal. They are going look into it and give me a call when they have more information on it..I'm not holding my breathe on this one 🙄

Update ! Just had a call from Crewe Seat who said it wouldn't be covered under warranty to get the rattle sorted, but would empty my wallet to the tune of £200 to get it sorted !! Absolute joke 🤬

Did they explain what exactly that would entail?

No not at all, the woman who I dealt with in the service department is absolutely clueless. I’ve ordered some clips off the internet another user has described, which said fixed his actuator rod rattle

When refitting the rod/clip I would suggest using some high temperature paste/anti seize - as they can seize solid, common on the 1.4's to seize and stop the waste gate working.
Maybe they made the later version looser - so less chance of it seizing - at the expense of more chance of it rattling

Update, the clips arrived, fitted in seconds and have stopped the wastegate actuator rod rattle. Very happy at a £10 fix compared to a couple of hundred quid at the main stealers 👍

Hi is there a way you can show how you have installed this? Also how long have you had the clips in? Iv heard in a lot of forums that they tend to fall off very easily. The sound is driving me crazy. Can hear it whilst travelling at low rpm
