At a loose end with it if I’m honest, now it’s gotten to the point where it’s lumpy on idle but who’s to say that it’s being caused by whatever problem I already have. Engine lights stayed on but glow plugs light hasn’t been on for a few days now.

Hello mate I've not forgot you
I dropped it off late yesterday afternoon
Hes doing Cambelt and waterpump for me.
Plus doing plugs and wiring harness
I've asked him to print the fault code and any other diagnostics that has cone up relating to it.
Just a suggestion I have done multiple hours research and the brake light switch is a common issue on these vag engines.
Apparently the switches make the light flash so maybe look into replacing that.
As soon as I get car back I will send a picture of the report over to you

It's back and I've had glow plugs and wiring harness replaced and light no longer comes on when its cold.
I now have engine management light on which is from the dpf being removed so its going back in next week to have it re programmed so I will give you a message and let you know the outcome of codes.
It runs so much better it pulls in every gear and turbo is now kicking in like it should do.
I have had so much trouble with mine so if mine is fixable then yours will be so much easier

Good evening all
I have read numerous pages on this subject and I still have the issue.
I will explain my problem as quick as possible amd if someone can help I will send the biggest create or beer your way.
Right here goes I purchased a seat leon fr550 which seemed perfect until the glow plug light started flashing,so I took it for a diagnostic test.
After the test it cane up that I needed two Injectors replacing and there was a turbo issue.
So I took it to my local lions van specialist they did a diagnostic test and also found the same.
So they replaced 2 injectors and replaced turbo actuator.
I thought awsome job done,I took it for a drive light came back on so back to lions it went.
They did a full inspection and found out the div who had the car before had smashed the inside of the dpf out.
So they did more investigations to find he'd aslo put an absolutely shocking remap on the car too.
So they got In touch with seat got hold of a standard remap and put it back to factory.
They then cleaned the inside of the dpf and blanked it off.
While doing so they also got a proper dpf delete for my car thr car fan so much better.
I tool it out for a drive again glow plug light came on.
They put diagnostic on it and it came up with air leak fault.
So they put a smoke machine on the car and found two boost hoses were split and the manifold had a massive split in it.
So the manifold and hoses were replaced.
Again I thought job done.
Took it out glow plug light still on!
Put diagnostic kit on it no fault codes!!!
Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing the issue please?
Again if anyone can help there's a massive create of beer in it for you.
Many thanks for reading my essay matt
Hi

sorry to hear about your troubles. I have a similar issue I brought a Leon 1.6 tdi 2015 and the day I drove back on motor way soon as I hit 70mph the glow plug light started flashing yellow. And had loss of power. Got home and didn’t drive it again til the next morning when I started it everything was fine. So thought maybe its. Been parked up a while n that’s why. Anyway didn’t go on motorway agin for another 2 months when I did it came on again. Restarted it and it went away. So left it. Then did a few more journeys over 70mph and nothing so thought it’s all ok. But it happened again on motorway and when I switched engine off at a roundabout and restarted it the engine management light come on. Had a friend put his OBD2 on it and it came back with o2 sensor fault! Anyone know how big of a job that is please or any advice would be very grateful. Have u managed to get yours sorted now ??

Hello mate
Money has been a nightmare I took mine to a seat specialist and they robbed me blind the changed things that wearnt actually the problem.
I've replaced all 4 plugs the full wiring harness and the module for the plugs too.
It ran great for a while then rhe problem came back.
I plugged obd11 in and its apparently an open circuit so I looked into it further and apparently its a common issue with these engines.
I can be anything from the plugs to the module the wiring harness or there's a 40 amp fuse in the fuse box under the bonnet thay causes issues.
So apart from changing things one by one it could be either one of them.
If you want to give me a call sometime give me a message and will chat sometime and between us we may be able to fix it

Thanks for the reply mate,
That’s exactly what I’m afraid of being ripped off by the main dealers I feel like I got ripped off by the garage that I brought it from already. With mine I have actually got 3 alerts on the OBD2 system. First is o2 1 sensor intermittent fault the second o2 sensor 2 as there are two on these one at the front of the exhaust and one at the backend. Then I also have a secondary heater pump lock warning !!! to top it all off the timing belt and water pump have not been changed at the recommended service. It’s on 103k now I got it on 99k. I went through a broker and they blagged me saying it had been done that’s why I opted for one over 80k. Thinking that major service will have been taken care of and I will have stress free motoring for atleast 2 years. I tried taking it back to the dealer about a month after having it. First they said bring it in we will look at it and let u know what’s the issue and book it in for the work to be done. When I got there was a different bloke who says no you have to leave it here with us and we will call u when it’s done. Can’t tell u how long that will be either !! Was really unhelpful and blunt. They’re an hour drive from mine and I need it for work also I didn’t trust them as they was acting really shady like having whispered convos with the mechanic so I couldn’t hear and being really annoyed at the fact I brought it back and told them they had to rectify it as I had the issue from the first day I got it. It’s been a while since then but I am in two minds to call them and see what they say.
I did see online someone else put the same code as my heater support pump one and they recommend getting that secondary water pump replaced but said not to use an after market one as they only cause more issues. I’m really frustrated And dreading taking it to a mechanic as I know they will have a field day. il post the fault codes so u can have a look and yeh that would be good pal. We will have a chat and see if we can get it sorted between us. What fault codes are you getting now are they the same as before ??

First thing don't stress mate everything is fixable and secondly a main dealer or seat specialist will always tell you its something catastrophic and it's not.
I figured mine out myself in the end through research and studying manuals.
So it will be something we can fix between us.
I had 5 fault codes to start with and I now have one and it only comes up now and then and it's only what is suggested above and neither are major issues they can be fixed with no major hassle.
I will have a proper look into your fault codes tomorrow and see if they match my original ones if not yours will be alot simpler.
People on here helped me and ill help you after all that's what these forums are here for to help each other out

Thanks a lot mate appreciate you taking the time to look into the fault codes for me. Also my fuel economy is no where near the advertised 70mpg I barely get 35mpg and that’s when I’m driving really carefully coasting a lot and really watching the active mpg meter. My average is about 33mpg. When driving locally. I don’t do a lot of motorway driving. From what iv read online it Suggests it could be because of the faulty o2 sensors ?? I have been looking to buy new ones but parts dealers want £125 for pre Cat and a £105 odd for the post cat one !! On eBay they going for 30-40 quid. Do you think the eBay ones will be any good ?? Also I need the exact part numbers if anyone can help with those would be very grateful as don’t want to get the wrong ones. I have a 2015 1.6 tdi 110hp
Lastly I have seen o2 sensor adapters (spacers) online does anyone know if they work or if they are a waste of time ?? Il attach my fault codes below

To be fair you got to be careful on ebay as some of them are cheap Chinese crap parts.
I made the error of putting a dodgy o2 sensor on my old polo g40 and I had all sorts of problems.
I will sit and have a look for one for you when I'm bored.
As for you Miles for gallon when mine runs properly I get just under 50 miles and about 37 when I'm giving it some.
Just out of curiosity where are you?

I’m based in derby mate. East Midlands. U?? I got my self an OBD2 and checked again only fault coming up was the o2 sensors I cleared them the Engine management light has gone off now and not come back on. I drove to Leeds and back aswell. Give it some lol. And didn’t have any issues. No flashing glow plug no warning lights. Got booked in end of the month for the timing belt and water pump.

As for your sensors when I took it to the guys at seat they said the o2 sensor can cause all kinds of issues.
I've got the fr500 which has a 2.0l tdi engine in it i was told it was the pd engine but some say its the common rail but i think it depends on year on which engine.
But it sounds like your having same issues as me get your timing belt done as that's a massive thing to tick off your list.
Its not related obviously but get that done and will get a computer on it and see what's going on properly

If you don’t mind me asking how much was the Cambelt and water pump change charge ? And was it a German Auto specialist or main dealer ? Thanks

Mate ask what ever you want I paid £180 all in and before you say why do cheap I used original oem bosch parts never use anything else.
And the bloke who did it was an old school friend and has been a mechanic since school so has 25 years experience and also is audi technician.
I'm very funny about who I let touch my cars but he is very good but I can ask around the car clubs who people recommend if that helps you too see if I can find someone your end of town
