A good indicator on how much 'shove' a car has is if any of the non-usual passengers either 'shriek, gasp, or hold on to the handles tigher' when you floor it, when already moving or from standstill. 2.0TDI, everyone does it...1.0TSI nobody does it, 1.5T (Volvo V40) a few people do it. I'm guessing on the 1.4 EcoTsi ACT, some would do it, and on the 1.5 Evos nobody would do it.

Very cruel and very true, but the "satisfaction" police have spoilt ICE cars so that we move to EVs.

I can’t help but think that I should have maybe went for the 2.0 EA288 FR Sport model instead of the 1.5 tsi. Was kind of talked into how ‘good’ this new engine was from the salesman.

I don't think it's that bad to be honest. We had a 125 bhp focus as a rental in menorca last year and that was way slower, economy was shocking and very noisy at high revs.

I was the same when i got mine the 1.5tsi was just out and they only had the older 1.4tsi and i test drove that and told me the new 1.5tsi was out and was the same but much better. Oh how they lied and oh how i fell for it :banghead2

Can’t wait for lockdown to end, tax the S2k and hit 9.2k limit up through the gears.
Get her hot and make her scream.

Love an S2K, the values of them are rocketing, keep a hold of it will only go up in value.

Me and my pal bought an audi tt 225 a couple of years ago in Nogaro Blue, apparently only 10 of them were ever registered in that colour and 225 as was a £2500 paint option.

Bought the car off an old lady on 99k for £1300, no service history job, contacted audi and voila full audi service history printed off, tripled in price within 5 mins.

Had no brakes either, replaced a vacuum hose and that was that sorted too for a fiver :)

Mmm...2 litre, 4 cylinder and 240PS? 9000+ rpm redline without the need/use of a turbo!...ahh..
I think even the old school Type Rs revs to almost 8000rpm...

8,250rpm for the K20 (EP3/FN2)

Used to have an EK9 Civic with DC2 B18C6 engine with S80 LSD, that was a weapon. Spoon ECU smacking the redline at 9.5k, vtec came in at 4.5k so had 5k of TEC YO!

All numbers and letters to non Honda people

Sorry if it's an issue me reviving this old thread I found through Google.

I just bought a 2018 FR 1.4tsi 150 after test driving both a 1.4 and 1.5 150.

The 1.5 was newer, cleaner and with a lot less kilometers for almost the same price (dealer vs private).
Logically I should have bought the 1.5 but my god the engine was really terrible vs the 1.4, gutless is the perfect word.
After being surprised by the 1.4 performance, testing the 1.5 was a big letdown.

I understand that what you feel is subjective, but imho there is no way the 1.5 I tested had the same performance figures as the 1.4 I ended up buying.

Seriously?

You're certain the 1.5 definitely was the 150ps version and not the 125 'pretending' to be the 150?
Car dealerships can be sneaky sometimes.

Yes I'm sure, the 1.5 was the private seller car, not the dealers car. I don't even think they sold the 125hp version in my country.

Or, the 1.4 you have has been mapped..
The 1.4 is from an official dealer, bought from them and always serviced there.
I'm not saying it's impossible it's been mapped but it's very unlikely.
Maybe the 1.5 I drove was a lemon but it came from the same official dealer, so I have a hard time believing there was anything "officially" wrong wirh it.
