Internet connectivity issue

Hello,

I’m curious is anybody else has issues with their car’s internet connectivity? My globe icon has been grey for a week now, and Seat Connect customer service don’t have a clue.

It means I don’t get traffic, connect app doesn’t work, etc etc. I’ve purchased the package until 2023, so it isn’t because it’s expired.

They want me to do a factory reset, but I know that won’t fix the problem, and it will just stop me from logging in and lose my settings.

You don't need the package for internet connectivity, only if you want to use that useless app or hotspot. The esim is separate to all that, as is updates and traffic etc.

I'd agree the a factory reset is the first option, not the last, after that you'll need a software update and full reset.

Anyone else had this problem and could fix it without having to perform a factory reset?

It’s been 2 days since the car started showing a greyed-out globe icon and the Connect app doesn’t refresh the fuel, range, consumption and won’t allow me to use any features like remote A/C and defrosting..

How are you connecting your car to the Internet? I don't use the on board esim as you have to pay for a package after the first year that is separate to the Connect app.
When my car is at home it connects to my home wifi and when I'm in the car it connects to my mobiles hotspot. The Connect app works fine for me that way and I'm 6 months in to a 2 year Connect app contract.

I think it’s connected to my mobile hotspot when I am in the car.

I am not sure about the eSim, as I haven’t manually done anything to activate it.
But if I have a Connect subscription, do I need an eSim to use the remote A/C feature besides the Connect subscription if the car is not connected to the phone hotspot or a home wifi?

Yeah, sorry I've probably confused things there. The esim should still work for ota updates and for the Connect app when the car us parked up. Have you tried it with the car parked up in a different place, say at work for instance? It might just be a lack of mobile signal.
I'm sure I read something somewhere in the Formentor section. Might be worth a look there.

No, it’s not lack of signal. It is greyed-out everywhere i go, plus it worked just fine both at my house and work since I bought the car until 2 days ago..

My car is a plug-in hybrid, so it is very useful to me. I can remote-start the A/C and windscreen defrost so it is always cool in the summer and warm in the winter by the time I get inside the car.

No, I got it in June. It’s not due to expired subscription..
Ah, so the esim data is still in contract and should be working. The globe icon should be on when connected to the Internet by either the esim or mobile hotspot. Have you tried to switch off the WiFi in the infotainment setting and switching it back on?
My car is alo a PHEV and I wouldn't be without the Connect app. It really is useful as you say!

It actually fixed itself yesterday night. 😅😅

Man, whoever developed this software is testing our patience. 🙃

Glad it's now working.
Strange things are happening with the software for a lot of people. Seat and Cupra really do need to get a grip of this!

You'd think with issues like this affecting SEAT/Cupra/Skoda/Audi/VW, they'd be a bit more on top of things. They're not some low-level manufacturer selling only tens of units...

Well, Seat servers seem to fail from time to time.

Good day,
I new and came here because of the same problem with the grey globe.
How did it started?
I've used my mobile as a hot spot for DAB/internet radio in my car.
After that ive turned off wifi and then the grey globe stayed as it is now.
i have a 1 year cupra connect contract that i cant use. it feels terrible.

It happened twice to me, and I have heard it happen to many people.
There is no way to fix it.
It will just fix itself after 2-5 days 😂
If a week passes by and it still hasn’t been fixed on its own, you can try performing a factory reset of the infotainment or contact your dealer.
