Can Any Body Tell Me What this Part Is Called?

Hello. A week ago my car went into limp mode and had the glow plug warning light flashing. I found the cause being this worn rubber pipe, cut the broken part off and attached it again and the car was back to normal.

Driving it today the same thing happened and the cable is all worn away/burnt. Anybody know what the part is called and if there's a reason it's happening, or it's just old rubber that needs replacing? Cheers.

Have you got a mouse under there?
Part of your breather system. Just a simple tube.

Haha! Think I might have. Reckon it was the connector that had a split, causing to much pressure on the hose. Went to a breakers and found an adequate replacement from another model of Seat. Working well so far 🙂

I would say these are teeth marks! There is nothing else near to scratch this plastic.
My parents car had the plastic washer lid eaten - and my mates Evoque flagged an engine malfunction light - he asked me what it could be, told him on these modern cars you really need to plug it in to diagnostic interface - anyway the dealer opened up the air box to find a mouse nest!

Quite a few years ago, maybe 5, I was looking after my older daughter's 2009 Ibiza while she worked in Oz then KL, I was having an issue with it draining its battery, it was parked outside alongside our driveway, and I was frequently checking under its bonnet while trying to diagnose what the issue was (which ended up being a BCM management programming error at initial build), and I noticed that field mice (probably), had been chewing the low density foam that was in the engine area - probably to control airflow, I was quite annoyed and quickly bought a rat/mouse poison bait box and 2 mouse traps and left them under that car. A few days later I discovered that the exact same low-density foam under the bonnet of my 2011 S4 had also been chewed, I almost exploded with rage! The nasty little beggars, this was now personal! Though nothing seemed to have been chewed under the bonnet of my wife's 2015 VW Polo, it does not have any of that low density foam controlling the under bonnet airflow. So, another quick trip to Screwfix, this time for 4 more traps and a plug-in "pest annoyer" thing, which is located beside the open bonnet of my S4 - to this day.
One of my next winter jobs is to remove the 12 month old peanut butter from the 6 mouse traps hanging up in the garage, and replace it with some fresh stuff, and place these traps across the garage at the front of both cars. The only issue being that it becomes a bit annoying when my feet flail around when I'm under cars in the garage and I set off some traps! Still, I normally avoid car work if possible, in very cold weather!
Normally once "that family" of field mice have been assassinated, there is no more trouble until the next winter. You, or someone else, does really need to kill them or they will be back.

Edit:- the nasty little beggars, some years ago, chewed all the black foam covering from a grass treatment hopper thing that I have stored up in the rafters of that garage, as well as later starting on the heavy duty mechanics foam mat that I have, the last item that they have destroyed was a spare black pipe insulation foam cover that I had made to cover the garage door lock and handle in winter, I went in one day and about 1/8 of it had been chewed to bits on the garage bench!
