Driver side rattle from under the seat

Hi all.

I now have my Leon since January and have had no problems so far.. Until recently :(

Seat Leon Fr 1.4 tsi 138bhp.
112,000km

In the last few weeks, I have been hearing a rattling/vibration noise coming from under the driver side seat.
I have inspected the seat itself and tightened each bolt.
It turns out it's actually below the interior or the car and under the actual interior.(if that makes sense) I'm not too sure what it's called, undertray ?

The noise only appears when I'm decelerating in any gear. As soon as it hits 2000rpm, the noise occurs.
It seems like it's a bit of loose plastic or metal. Can't really tell based on the noise and location.

It is definitely not coming from the hood / dash so that a good sign, I guess...

Exhaust heat sheild or plastic underbody panel?
Tried the panel but not too sure what to look out for. The actualy panel itself doesn't seem to be making the noise.

I am unaware if it could be the exhaust heat shield. Any tips on how I could investigate further?

Thanks

Remove the under tray and then shake/tap the exhaust pipe (obviously don’t touch it hot), you will hear the heat shield vibrating. Had this in the past on an Audi.

Bang the (cold) exhaust with your hand and listen for unusual noise like a rattle or tizz.

Thanks for the information.

I am quite inexperienced, as you can tell.
Which tools would be needed to remove the tray and how hard is it to get off and put back on.

I'll give this a go when I figure out how to take the undertray off! Seeks like it could be the exhaust.
The noise is coming from the right hand side of the driver side tho. Would this eliminate any other probable causes. Its almost like its on the edge of the car under my seat rather than dorectly under..if that makes sense

i have exact the same problem in my cupra it started last month, and started to look for it.
was told by the golf gti people there is a exhaust shield at middle of the car, the rust eat the screws and it vibrates however, i did not find it.
another person which has golf r told me to remove the plastic under middle of the car and i would see it, rusted out.
but is a big plastic and i did not have enough time, going to look it this weekend.
please reply if you find what's causing it, before me

The undertray is only under the engine compartment, the exhaust should be visible under the car in the centre tunnel?

Hey, thanks for the help.

I lifted the car and had finally found the source of my problem.
It was basically 2 tubes of se sort vibrating off eachother. My fix was to put zipties around them to hold their positions.

Not sure which 2 tubes they were tho. Sorry :(
