OK, so no-one seems to know if the maps on my 2014 MIB1 can be updated......

Other alternative is to look for an alternative to the MIB1......what's available out there? Something with android maybe? Or would the MIB2 ugrade be the way to go? How big a job would it be to actually carry out?
Thanks

MIB1 map can be updated, i had a map i bought from ebay and was working fine.
till now i only seen an alpine radio for seat leon with all car functions at crazy price of £1200 , for less than half of that money u can upgrade to MIB2 easy, plenty mib2 on ebay from 150/250 there is plenty 6.5inch screen for £130 and it cost from 80/100 to have it unlocked and coded to your car, many places does.

its just remove the old map sd card on slot 1 and insert this one.
it will take minute or two to register it to your car at first.
some ask to accept something on screen press yes and that it. my friends one asked to accept something, on mine it didn't, we just press yes don't know what it asked. lol after that the map works fine.

I have tried that - when this new card goes in, the unit thinks about it for a couple of minutes and then gives the message that the data is not valid

Yes I did remove the original (working) v 2014 maps. SD card in the box matches exactly what is on the box in the ebay listing (v13) as in your link
What is different is my original is marked Seat Navigation AT, the new one as in your link is marked Seat Navigation AS

All working again as soon as the original card is replaced

That's what I've been trying to say to the seller. He is adamant that this one he supplied, which is correct according to the listing, is the MIB1 update

The last pic you sent is like mine now, except mine is the V5 edition

You can send it back anyway, with pick of the dash of radio, but give me little bit i will ask my friend to check is card to make sure because i upgraded to mib2.
i will also look for my old map card.
AS is for MIB2 only for sure unless some software update by dealer makes AS work on MIB1 i don't know, so i will check his radio software if he has AS to see because does all service on dealer, unsure if they updated or he have AT card.
will check later on and will let u know once i am back, i will see what map he got and where from.

The part number on this box certainly sems to tie up with what he says but I can't work this out at all. Here are screenshots of the messages between the seller and me on ebay.

I have now returned the card to the seller for a refund, but still looking for a suitable upgrade to these old 2014 maps I currently have.
Thanks

Hi mate,

I was wondering if you could help me out. I have been trying to find a way to upgrade my MIB1 to MIB2 I have a 64-plate Seat Leon FR 184 so I can have Apple Carplay and Android Auto, but I am unsure of the best way to do this. I can see you have recommended purchasing a 2nd hand MIB" unit from eBay and then coding it to your car. Would you be able to point me in the correct way of going about doing this for my car, what I would exactly need to buy, and where I would be able to get the unit coded to my car?

I appreciate any advice or help given.

Thanks,
Sam

Hi mate, thanks for getting back to me!

Yeah I think I would need all of that, are you able to provide me with part numbers, and what I would need to get? I have had a look on eBay for the screen units and have seen a few but I am unsure of what exactly I would need to buy.

Yeah, I have seen that getting the code removed so it can work for the car can be tricky. I have seen that it can be expensive as well, this is from what I have read online and seen.

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks,
Sam

is not expensive to unlock, some places charges £80 or £120 to fully unlock and activate everything, mib2 has various unit, you have plus and standard,
some like this one are very good, has dab,satnav,https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/basAAOSwKKFj908Z/s-l1600.jpg
screen you can use 8inch 5F0919606 or 6.5 inch 5F0919604A, just find the cheap in good condition, plenty on FB 20 minutes to instal
