Beats Audio? Formentor

Yep!
Ordered my V2 last week and can confirm Beats pack was an option - which I definitely specced. £390 for the option but also have to take the 18” spare wheel (£120) for it to go into - so £510 total. (Thought it strange that the V2 and above comes with an 18” spare for Beats pack - when it’s shod with 19’s as standard?)

Like most of you, I’m also coming from a car with Premium Audio (Jag with 380W 12 speaker Meridian system); wouldn’t really class Beats as ‘premium’ but for £510, I judged it worthy just for the extra/better amplification and the sub! Just the sub alone takes the pressure off the smaller speakers when a bit of low end is required - so looking forward to that aspect.

Gotta sound much better than standard, surely!!?? Can’t believe some of you saying it’s not all that!?? 🤷🏾‍♂️

I concur on the phone call quality.

I also have Beats audio and a spare tyre but no Brembos.

The audio quality is not as good as the Seat Sound but it ain't bad either - just that Seat Sound was really, really good.

After spending some time with tweaking settings I am almost happy, although the low end is a bit mushy no matter what I try

Yeah I've always said beats isn't as nice as seat sound, even with the previous version of it found on the mk3 Leon & Ateca

However with good sound deadening and slight bit of tinkering it comes alive and I'd say it's on par with the high end sounding much nicer than seat sound 🙂

Want to share your settings? Would save me the leg work to start again from scratch.

I am also trying to get hold of someone with a spectrum analyzer to do it a little bit more scientifically

My car has additional sound deadening so you'll have different results

Your ears & music taste are likely different to mine too. There's no one size fits all

You could have just said "No!" ;)

But I get why you don't - anyway, I can get there by myself too.

I just asked you because given the nature of what you do and that you recognize a good sound system you probably have good taste towards a naturally sounding yet full sound, without a subwoofer turned to 11.

Oh, and the point you make about sound deadening is a very valid one - my friend here competes in car audio competitions and he showed me all he has done to his car (a Skoda Octavia MK3) and how much it influences the sound.
...but he did buy the car new and proceeded to strip the WHOLE interior and then add sound deadening all over.

I wonder how much weight he added to the car in the process. :)

I think he estimated it but I don't remember the number.
Quite a lot, I would say.
We compared the driver's door between his car and mine and it was substantially heavier - but if you really want the best possible sound in a car, it is a must do.
As a bonus, it also gets rid of rattles and reduces road noise.

I emailed the dealer yesterday because I’ve optioned beats but no spare wheel

He replied back saying all VZ models come with a spare wheel now and only V1 and V2 owners need to option a spare wheel when going for beats

The spare wheel has also been removed off the configurator for VZ models now

I’ve had my VZ2 310 Formentor for 2 weeks now. Apart from it feeling like I need to visit a petrol station on every outing (TBF I’ve covered just shy of 1000 miles in two weeks), the car is mega. The surprise package of the lot is the standard music system. The main variables in any set up are source, DAC, amp and speakers. I am running Amazon HD/UHD (although UHD isn’t available through Bluetooth) on an iPhone XR, communicating on Bluetooth 5.0. The DAC is spectacular, amp ok, not too loud and the speakers sound ok due to the good source/DAC. I had the Burmeister option amp and speakers in my C-Class Merc, which was bass light and nowhere near as involving or detailed as the Formentor, probably due to the DAC. TBH I’m really surprised and had a very low expectation having read posts on here.

I agree. No complaints with mine either. 👍🏼

For what it’s worth, here are my settings (all down to personal preferences).
My previous Octavia vRS had Canton sound and, in my opinion, the standard system in the Formentor seems just as good.

Even without trying these, I would assume they will be far too bright - also, from the UI, doesn't look like you got the Beats audio.

Yeah, just the standard stereo system. I don’t recall their being an option for Beats when I ordered my VZ2?

I wouldn't recommend the settings above as anyone's reference. Going to extreme +9 dB on the higher end could have 2 explanations. First is for user biased towards a very contoured sound, and the second, this is basically what you end up doing in order to help system sound any good and is directly related to the poor overall system performance. In the long run it will be simply annoying.

On the MY22 you can focus the sound front or rear or to what ever passenger is in the car ie it’s automatic. Not sure if my old VZ Edition did this but I think the sound system in auto with my personal equaliser settings is better then the B&O I had in the Audi. All my opinion of course.

I have a MY21 and it has the function to adjust sound automatically for who is in the car.

Personally I think the sound is great but we all have different preferences!!!
