Sometimes you find German words. Obdeleven may bring it out in English, sometimes not (lights, tailgate sound setting and detailed locking options were in German on the adaption screen setting for the Ateca at the time). What I've done in the past when a screen is all German using the Android app, screen save it (home + power), then feed it into Google translate Google translate app, image import, rub on the text and you get English (also good in Japanese restaurants 😉). You will see that on the Obdeleven Ateca thread where I resorted to that one. Basically if you know German you have a head start with some VCDS programming.

Where those listed mods you sometimes see posted up are like travel guides where you know they never went there themselves, cut and paste jobs. Screen shots are the best way of explaining what needs to be done as Agnes above. Long strings will be different between models so where they say change byte xxx on a Golf etc it will be different to a Formentor. In Obdeleven the <0-1> toggle on the long string converts to text so you do know what you are changing if it's been completed correctly.
it would be a great idea for anyone who has a 100% working mod using obdeleven to post it with exact step by steps on here or maybe the mods could make it a stickie ??

I did think about toggling to sticky but didn't want to tread on Syphons toes since this is his nicely manicured area 😉. The actual German text only comes up on the more esoteric parts of the car like the lighting units, locking options etc (probably because that's the part and mod in German) which you do the screen shot trick on to read, image recognition thou an app as covered above. I suspect those areas are currently SFD protected so not an issue. Think Agnes has them all except I'd like a second check on SS via the AC method.

An introduction to OBDEleven is here... the first two posts cover the basics... after that it's all Ateca pre SFD but gives you an idea.

There is an Android only dongle (white) and the latest Android and iPhone one (black). Both are on sale, reported it renders better on an Android device. Check minimum spec you require, uses blue-tooth, wifi or 4g on the device is required at the car. Traditionally the devices were shipped from abroad but any you find on next day Prime will be in warehouses in the UK. You need the Pro license to do these mods on the Formentor that Agnes has reported. There are currently no micro-payment apps for the Formentor. Currently would be a bit like Swiss cheese in any case. The Pro license is bought off the OBDeleven site which is what Agnes did... they even had same day delivery on the dongle from Amazon so were up and running on the same day.

With 2020- VAG models all mods must be done with the bonnet up unlike before and they can currently only be done on non locked down control units (not protected by SFD). The mods were discovered by the VAG community.

Put Agnes in charge of adding to her post above. I did alter the title 😉... and pinned.

Basically the core stuff that you can do on a Leon 4 or Golf 8 you should be able to do on a Formentor why I posted the links. Generally it's good to look across other boards across countries and VAG models since people may be discovering other stuff. Once SFD is within Obdeleven other mods will open up.

I tested refuel quantity and it's not really useful. It's tied to fuel indicator and changes only by 5l incrementals, when fuel indicator is changing. It's not reading accurate fuel amount from the tank. Car was showing 40 miles range left, refuel quantity was showing 45l, but I was able to top up with 51l of petrol. When I was driving home, refuel quantity didn't change and was showing "--", because fuel indicator was showing full tank. A bit disappointing. I was hoping it's reading data from sensor like Mercedes and will show actual data, not estimated.

4/ Remaining Fuel Quantity thanks to massimo23
1 - Select Control Unit 17 - Instrument panel (Dashboard)
2 - Select Long Coding
3 - Adjust Volume to be replenished: Set to Yes if you want to see it. If you have it and don't want it then change to No

That worked and now I can see in left scrolling panel how many l to refuel, quite like it.

Sounds useless, explains why they don’t include it as standard I guess.

I wondered, since these cars don’t have washer fluid level sensors; if one could be retro-fitted, could it be coded in?

Sure it doesn't have a sensor that warns you to fill up the washer when empty ?. Ateca does but it's not that well advertised in the manual. It may be parcelled with an option, but mine will tell you when it's pretty empty.

On litres to fill the main use is suppose to be abroad where you pre pay for fuel in advance, you arrive at the attendant, pay for say 40 litres, go back to car and the pump stops at that. Under reading is an advantage else you have to go back and get a repayment - did that once on the Belgium border when they moved onto not trusting people, went to pay before fill. Better to pay at the pump. I did enable that one but dont use it.

Yeah a couple of people have reported this and I confirmed the same with my VZ2. Just runs out of fluid with no warning - mind you the tank lasts ages, think those VW fan jets are particularly efficient.

Yeah, I've only had that warning once in five years. I was asked about it, told the person, yep it's got in and eventually saw it. It's never run out thou.

They probably didn't fit it as part of cost cutting. Seems you have to go thru a long check list these days on the spec.....

Well, purchased ODB11 dongle yesterday. Delivered today and I've made changes: ACC RH overtaking detection deactivated; Soundaktor reduced from 100% to 50% (seems acceptable); Lane Assist warning and changes per Agnes, so I can turn it off without warning lights on the dash plus it won't come on again when restarting.
Absolute piece of p*ss to do, highly recommended 😉.

PS: I did a scan of the car when it connected and was surprised to find 13 faults, quite a spread. Nothing I've noticed really, but maybe stuff like occasional keyless entry issues etc? Screenshot of the summary below, (quite long!), errors in red. You can open each up to dig into the detail, some are minor, most I don't understand tbh. You can clear them but I'm going to leave them and see what the dealership say when I take it in for a software update or service.

Either approach. I expect they won't clear them either. It's the permanent ones that are issues, the random ones which come and go probably not. The dealer should look at them and clear them. If you clear them then obviously they can't see them. Once you get use to them if you decide they are nothing you can clear them, then you know the rest are new. Just bus errors I get on the Ateca which are transient, communication issues between the units. Seems when a door is left half open when driving. The others have meant something, low battery in the remote, heated mirrors not clipped in at build and my fiddling in the backend mib2. Service they can do things which bring up an error... seen that in the past. Good to do a scan before service and after.

I had about 40 errors on first scan. Some happened once, some repeatedly. Biggest offender is "exit warning" not working almost all the time.

Which control unit ?. You do get an error code to Google although reckon it use to be better. Ofcourse it can be built with errors if they don't sort out how everything talks to each other.

Nothing to do with this perhaps ?.

Didn't have the door open during programming or something.

Before your mod or after.

The rear radar sensor can get muddy and that does least in an Ateca cancel the system. May be it's a variation on front assist radar getting wet and obscured, whilst it throws that one up with one of the two rear radars can't see out the back with the door open. Feels like your other issue of beeping and seeing stuff that isn't there when reversing, may be. Dodgy radar sensor in the rear, open the door and may be that gets triggered then gets recorded in the log.

I get this sometimes upon 'turning' ignition on, it clears straight away.
Is that reported via a scan or in a display of error events I'm sure there will be a screen that shows you that. Front Assist errors come up on, does that appear on that screen. If like pre 2020 models that does clear down after ignition off. That's the screen you turn to, to get the full text when you can't work out what it means on the dash... those events do get recorded and come up on a diagnostic scan which is what Agnes was referring to although vanish off the car's consumer display of errors.

Nope, just get a 'bong' with a message on the dash briefly. It then clears 🤷‍♂️

Perhaps the rear of the car needs a wipe... reckon that's the rear version of front assist not working message on that model. Pre 2020 with blind spot it would busy out and stay out till click back on if it determined that it wasn't working. You'd have to cover the back sides of the car with mud and see what happens as the test . Got that around Porlock with muddy roads that's when it toggled blind spot off itself to be manually put back on - only time when the car got plastered. Could be early morning condensation or it does some calibration function that isn't quite perfected at start up.

Interesting.

Is it possible to unlock module 09? Trying to get DRL to work on the rear as well as the front. I know where it is on OBDeleven menu but it's asking for a code, tried some five digit codes from other forums (Skoda/Leon), but no joy...

It's interesting to see that OBDApp can do a lot more than OBDEleven. I wonder how OBDApp is getting around the SFD issues. I'm still looking forward to having the rear lights on all the time.

That is where the German forum was grousing where I took that post from. It thought one account with VAG for tokens then they dish them out. Obdeleven implementation will be above board. Their implementation is done without "negotiations" is the gist of how it is done whilst Obdeleven's is with. I see from the Obdeleven web page they have added a couple of their micro payment apps now although you can do all of this currently with the pro license with those posted above plus many more in the non locked down control units.

I suspect the lane assist weaving / jerking issues that people talk about may be addressed currently by tuning the parameters which some have done with the Leon 4 with Obdeleven over on the sister thread. I don't have the car. I do know however the Ateca in 2016 wasn't correctly set up for Irish road markings, I gave them the UK Ateca lane settings. It was missing a menu option which Seat Ireland claimed you didn't need on Irish roads 🙄. You never know.
