Hi,
I have ordered a VZ 245 in Denmark, hopefully getting it this Monday.
I’m wondering if it is possible to code the OBD, to give a short honk on the horn when locking and unlocking the car? Just like a lot of cars does in America.

The German Formentor site says no.

However if the Formentor has turning mirrors on lock like many of the Seats.... you hear the mirrors go and in car parks, after walking away, a glance at the mirrors shows you locked it. My trick. Take the motor sound as the beep. More civilised as well.

You might have to flick a menu setting in the car to put mirrors in on lock... depends how it's delivered.

Post 8 of this is your cherished address map of a Golf 8. Gives the parameter names of the variables / can be deduced. Useful to put against other published mods. Really for research.

You can cross check the Leon 4 / Formentor ones. Might give a few ideas of non locked down control units.... but as normal best not to get carried away changing things since you need to know how to get back if it doesn't work. The history option shows what you have done for a path back.

Hmmm. Have you tried asking on the Proboard forum in case somebody has come across issues similar with that control unit. Then throw in what you were advices by the manufacture and see what response you get on the user forum.

Suspect they have some missing code between the firmware version you have in that control unit and Obdeleven so it is not recognised rather than SVM being enabled on that control unit specific to your car. This is where one needs a table of those that have succeeded with the firmware version of the control unit and those that haven't. At the minute only you with issues... although small numbers.

Probably, trying get through to an actual person at seat finance is proving a challenge plus it’s likely that the financial penalties for extracting myself from a lease might make it a dumb choice in any case.
I’ve driven a few miles now with the lane assist off and it’s like driving a normal car to be fair.
Will try and have a play around with stop start next as that’s a bit aggressive as well.

You might find the SS tricky. Received wisdom and all that, the German thread I posted higher up, the guy keeping the running list of mods that works associates that with SFD. Attached is his list at the minute of working ones. Worth checking that from time to time and everybody else's 😉.

Shame that is always the first mod on my list ,,,,,i do most of my driving in town so its a bad bad idea to have SS enabled. managed to kill it on my last 3 cars so fingers crossed later this year when obd get the sfd sorted.

Sometimes you find German words. Obdeleven may bring it out in English, sometimes not (lights, tailgate sound setting and detailed locking options were in German on the adaption screen setting for the Ateca at the time). What I've done in the past when a screen is all German using the Android app, screen save it (home + power), then feed it into Google translate Google translate app, image import, rub on the text and you get English (also good in Japanese restaurants 😉). You will see that on the Obdeleven Ateca thread where I resorted to that one. Basically if you know German you have a head start with some VCDS programming.

Where those listed mods you sometimes see posted up are like travel guides where you know they never went there themselves, cut and paste jobs. Screen shots are the best way of explaining what needs to be done as Agnes above. Long strings will be different between models so where they say change byte xxx on a Golf etc it will be different to a Formentor. In Obdeleven the <0-1> toggle on the long string converts to text so you do know what you are changing if it's been completed correctly.

Worth a try. Bonnet up to program, A.C. must be on to get it to work... that's said on models where it does work.

I don't like SS, I found it dangerous on a DSG so mod it out. Manuals they flick the clutch or wiggle the wheel developing ticks.... They will still be doing that driving EVs😂.

I went through a list of modifications listed on OBD Eleven forum for Leon MK4 and did some changes to my car. Below what worked and what didn't work.

1/ Deactivate overtaking right prevention - Thanks to zelue1995

- Select Control Unit 13
- Select Long Coding (0)
- Select overtaking_right_prevention
- Change from activated to Deactivated

That worked and I don't see cars on the left or right and Formentor doesn't slow down any more. That made huge differece.

View attachment 26405

2/ Lane Assist Point Of Intervention: thanks to tommy95
- Select Module A5 (Driver Assistance) ->
- Select Long Coding ->
- Select Point Of Intervention ->
- Set To Early

Didn't touch it, since I always switch off Lane Assist anyway and used another code to do it permanently now.

3/ Lane Assist Warnings: thanks to tommy95
- Select Module A5 (Driver Assistance)
- Select Long Coding
- Select Lane Assist Off Text
- Change to Set To Disabled

That worked, I think it also disabled other warning icons on my dash, because I don't have christmas tree any more, when I disable other systems. Or maybe something else disabled warning icons, not sure. Update, still christmas tree when switching off other systems. But no icon showing that lane assist is off, so that works.

4/ Lane Assist Settings: thanks to tommy95
- Select Module A5 (Driver Assistance) ->
- Select Long Coding ->
- Select Configuration For Lane Departure Warning K15 ->
- Set To Last Setting

That worked. My lane assist was off next time, when I switched on the car, even though I didn't switch lane assist off last time.

4a/ Lane assist systems is a bit annoying that once it is turned off in maxidot menu - assistance systems, it turns back on upon cycling a key.

Thanks to tell @ www.seatcupra.net/forums/threads/obd-modifications.463977/#post-4961854

However this is the coding that prevents this from happening:
-> Control Unit A5 - Driver Assistance
-> select Long coding
-> Select option 0
-> change setting Perso_HC from Activated to Last_settin

There's not Perso_HC setting in Formentor, I couldn't find it. But number 4 solved that issue anyway.

5/ Deactivate Stop Start

Disabling Stop Start thanks to Phipilipipp on the seat-leon.de forum
I have seen that some users have problems with this coding on MK3 but It has been confirmed that it works fine on MK4.

- Select Control Unit 08 (Air Conditioning)
- Select Adaptation
- Select Deactivation of Start Stop Function

Value change was accepted, but start/stop came back on next restart. So doesn't work.

View attachment 26408

Some other codes from the link above which I used and tested. Not really needed, just cosmetic changes.

4/ Remaining Fuel Quantity thanks to massimo23

1 - Select Control Unit 17 - Instrument panel (Dashboard)
2 - Select Long Coding
3 - Adjust Volume to be replenished: Set to Yes if you want to see it. If you have it and don't want it then change to No

That worked and now I can see in left scrolling panel how many l to refuel, quite like it.

I didn't try Control Unit 8 coding, as I didn't see any of that needed or useful.
Control Unit 9 is blocked, so didn't try it either.

Control Unit 17

Seat belt warning off/changed

Control Unit 17 - Long Coding - Text Version (0) -
Select Seat belt warning - Default is Version 1 (European) you can change it to Version 2 (US) or Off

thanks to massimo23 forum.obdeleven.com/post/49811

Didn't try, doesn't bother me.

Offroad View in the Dashboard: thanks to massimo23

this is from golf8 so may be different setup on Leon

In 17-Dashboard
go to Adaptions.
Set Offroad to Display
Go to View Activation
Change the setting in View_10 to active.
You should see the following in the View cards.

That works, but view is different in Formentor. Not sure if it's going to be useful for anything.

Control Unit 44 didn't try, don't see it as useful.

Switching off sound actuator.

Select Control unit A9 (Structure Borne Sound)
Select Adaptation
Select Volume of structure-borne noise actuator
Select % you want 0 to turn it off or reduced to lower sound.

Didn't try, already pulled the plug from the device.

I didn't try code mentioned here, it doesn't bother me that tailgate beeps, at the beginning yes, but maybe it will save someone's life at supermarket, when they walk too close to the boot.

What I could still code for the Formentor with electr. Tailgate to deactivate the "warning / beep" sound. This sounds originally on

1.) Open / close by pressing a button in the driver's door

2.) Open / close with a long press on FB

3.) Close with foot gesture control

STG 6D tailgate

Access authorization 12345

Adaptation

Channel ENG131232-MAS01911-equipment activate-tone generator

from active to inactive

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It would be good, to be able to switch off start/stop, front collision and emergency braking at the back. Because even with Lane Assist switched off, I still have to switch off the other 2 manually and emergency braking is there when reversing.

Finally got round to running through the coding list had no, an i now have Lane Assist to remember its last state with no warning sign coming up to tell me when its off. Honestly was the most annoying part of the car for me so with that now sorted is so much better!

Also added the fuel remaining in Ltr which i like to have as well as switching off the overtaking on the right.

One thing to note though wouldnt bother having a go at doing it with ODB if you dont have access to an android phone or tablet. Tried it on my iphone and the menus are just impossible in comparison to how much more straight forward it is on android. Luckily had an old Samsung tablet that i hadnt got round to selling so thats now got a use again!

Thank you again to Agnes for putting this little guide of the working codes together
