Sounds like that's what I'll be doing then. I'd have liked to have got the top nut out without having to take off that CV nut - after the past few days I just want to get it done - but now I know the subframe is OK after getting the dogbone out, I can put the arms back in without having to worry about having to take everything out again. With any luck, once I get the breaker bar on top of the ball joint nut, something will happen with that extra leverage - snap off or come undone, I don't really care - it's coming out.

I haven't got a torque wrench that goes as high as 200Nm though for when I put the axle nut back on - is that going to be a problem?

Give it 5 ugga duggas, that should be tight enough . When I did my shafts I didn’t have a wrench that hit 200 either so I asked my dad. He said go pretty tight as you don’t want them coming off. Are you replacing the nut? I know the oem ones are one use only. I got new ones with my shafts that I actually preferred

Unit of Measurement regarding time and usually torque. Often found in automotive stores, mechanic's garages, and redneck tractor pulls.
Ugga duggas can be counted infinitely, but it is commonly understood that 5 Ugga duggas is the maximum for torque, while three Ugga duggas is sufficient to hold most projects.
To count an Ugga Dugga one must be wearing a ball cap backwards, have at least one busted knuckle, a beer in reach. Then as you squeeze the trigger of your impact gun, you count off like so, "One Ugga Dugga, Two Ugga Dugga, Three Ugga Dugga..etc" Don't forget the southern, redneck drawl or to spit the juice from your oral tobacco products, or else your Ugga Duggas will not be sufficient.

1 year, and i did rag it to the centre but it no doubt cooled by the time they got to it. Its cool though they passed it lol
I don't know what it is, but we seem to be having some luck at the moment when it comes to MoTs...

I spent my morning putting my control arms back in the car. Driver's side is all done and torqued up, apart from doing up the ARB droplink bolt, and I had some luck with the nearside - although I feel a bit of a ***** for not getting this sooner. Decided to lie on the ground and just push as hard as I could on the top bolt for the ball joint, but all I managed to do was push the knuckle over to the left of the wheel arch. It occurred to me that the movement of the knuckle was probably absorbing a lot of the force I was putting into it, so I put the jack under the bottom of the ball joint, not to stop it from spinning, but just to keep the knuckle in one place. Really good hard push, and it came free and started turning. It was jammed in the knuckle pretty good and I had to hit it loads with a lump hammer and pickle fork to get it free, so I'm wondering if it's another ugga-dugga job from the garage when they replaced the control arm. There was a bit of plastic hanging from my axle bolt so I'm wondering if it's been taken out and then put in again badly.

While I've had vice grips on the ball joint boot, it's still turning, but at least it's free now and I can either try again with the vice grips, or just break out a hacksaw and cut the bolt in two.

No sign of the dogbone though, which is annoying - I've got the bushes out ready to go, and I can't wait to see what kind of a difference all this has made.

Got a few bits to put on the car but workplace injury means that's on hold.

Did watch the latest update on Misha Chaudrins Ringtracktor for hints n tips. JRZ suspension? Nope, not got the price of good Cupra R for suspension. The KW V3s are good enough for me.

Ground Control camber adjustable top mounts? No drilling or strengthening required? Sweet! Let's have a look...

Just to get them shipped, not including all the dreaded, $630?!?

Workplace injury? Hope you're alright.

This has been staring at me all week, but I've tried not to acknowledge it. Hopefully it just needs a clean and for me to finally start paying attention to the engine, but while a new turbo would be nice, it's not something I can afford.

Just had my MOT, the magnaflow sport cat failed on emissions, anyone with this sport cat heads up lol
How old is the cat?
Just had one fitted to mine and worried now lol
Scary!!!!

I have a 2.5" catback by Roar - Don Silencioso and Im thinking about fitting their downpipe with 200 cell cat (made by HJS) but Im worried about failing the emissions test. I live in Spain I guess it is different for every country not sure if HJS catalytic converters are any good.

The idea of fitting/unfitting the whole thing every year is teeeeedious. :(

A simple job that should have taken 5 mins.
Changed the n/s front mirror. Got knocked a while ago and was loose.
To swap them over took 10 mins including re fitting the door card etc.
Then came the fun bit.
Trying to get the black cap off the new mirror.
Someone had used what looked like a full tube of no nails to secure the cap to the housing.
An hour it took to get it off so I could put my grey cap back on.
One problem. I broke the clips off the back of the black triangular bit of trim that covers the mirror screw inside.
Add it to my shopping list.

Exactly the same as mine! some dolt no nails the whole thing solid, including the hinge.
