These are bulging badly and I’m having extreme difficulty pressing them in. To the point the nut won’t thread anymore and the whole lot is spinning.

This bit here needs to come out the other side, so wedging the two sockets in will allow it to come through.

I just spent so long not remembering that step and cranking this thing like an idiot. Finally remembered and Actually have a bearing puller tool that i was using instead of the sockets. But 6 hours in -1 degrees weather is enough for me.

I have half a cm left to pull in one and then it’s the next one tomorrow

On the verge of losing it with this car.

Tried to put the SuperPro bushes in for the ARB, but it looks like on the driver's side, the ARB has expanded - rust maybe - and I can't get the bracket on over the bush.

As I really need to get back on the road and get home, I tried to put the old bushes back on. Passenger side goes on fine, but the driver's side I just can't get the bolt to go into the thread. I've tried using a chisel to lever it into place and swapping the bolts on either side to see if the thread of the other one will grab better, but nothing.

I picked up some M8 bolts today from Halfords, but with the brackets off, I can't get them to screw in, so they're either the wrong size, or they need to be tapered. The last thing I want to do is strip the threads on the subframe, so I'm trying not to force it or do stupid things when I'm tired.

Any tips? I can't drive the car at all when it's like this and I'm cold and exhausted and am on the verge of doing something stupid...

Can you take a picture or two ? - You can run the car without the ARB just dont go crazy around sharp bends.

This is what the ARB looks like on the driver's side. If you look at the stop where the bush would go, you can see the coating has cracked, which might be because of the rust expanding it...? You can see how the rest of it has peeled off.

This may be a stupid question but did you do the other side up fully when you replaced it?

Both sides on loose to begin with. I also found pulling the arb helped get the bracket back on wiggled it till it slotted in. I replaced mine for oem bushes though

Oh, trust me, I've done far worse stuff, so it's worth asking!

The other side is a loose as it can be without the bolt coming out. I've tried doing the difficult side first and then doing the side I know tightens up, and no luck there.

I think it's going to be either chipping away at or sanding down the rust tomorrow - then get some longer bolts when I've recovered from this ball ache.

It's good to know I'm not doing anything wrong - I've been really pulling on the bar, levering it with a chisel and a few other ways.

It's starting to feel more and more like it's the bar being rusty that's stopping it going back together - the PU bush goes on fine on the left side, but I can't even wrap it around the bar on the right side.

I really struggled with one side the first time I changed bushes. Brute force to wiggle the bar and half hour of swearing at it it literally dropped into place as though nothing was in the way

That's what it was like on the other side - bit of a wriggle and it just works. I can put it in, take it out and it'll still go back in. The other side just doesn't want to.

Have you tried loosening it all and getting it all to bite? I wish I could help as I’ve felt this pain haha

Im going with the collar being stuck on or something, have you got anything to accurately measurre to see if there is a difference in diameter?

I got 1mm smaller bushes than my ARB and although hella difficult longer bolts saw them home easily.

My vernier calipers never leave my side. I'll get them on there tomorrow.

When you say collar, what do you mean? I didn't think bushes on the ARB had them?
