Lowering Springs Cupra 280 ST

I’ve been looking at lowering springs for my 280 ST but having difficulty actually finding anywhere that sells the ST specific springs...

Ideally I would like the racingline set as I’ve heard very good reviews, but they only come for the SC/5dr.

My question is... could I fit the 5dr Cupra springs to my ST?

I appreciate that the rears have to be stronger, but the ST is only 45kg heavier. And I never have any real weight or passengers in the car, so the weight wouldn’t be an issue?

Surely 45kg wouldn’t cause an issue with springs, as this is the weight of a child - I’d like to hope the springs could cope with such a minor difference!

Any thoughts appreciated.

There's more weight on the rear in a ST than the FWD cars, the rear will sit lower with their springs fitted due to an increase in static sag.
You could also get changes in handling balance.

It's best to get specific springs for your vehicle to avoid any issues with lowering heights.

Let me know if we can be any help with prices or info.

Yeah i has seen the Eibach springs but would prefer sportlines and can only find pro-kits?

Also, a friend has H&R on his Golf R and they are stiffer than I’d like and really don’t offer much in terms of lowering...

Thanks for your help guys!

I’m getting my Eibach Sportlines fitted on Tuesday :)

These are the kits when I was researching...

Nice!! Keep the thread updated with pics after Tuesday!

Does anyone know is there much difference in stiffness between the ProKit and Sportlines? Or is it simply just a greater drop?

Will do, they’re not listed on their site yet, but the new site sponsor https://progressiveparts.com/ will be listing them soon :) VAGManchester are doing the fitting.

I asked them as they didn’t have any springs listed for the 4drive and I was getting the car serviced with them already. Getting the 034 Motorsport Dynamic top mounts at the same time too.

I wanted the Pro kit due to how much it lowers by (25mm). But having the 4drive I was confused by the lack of pro kit, and the fact the Sportline lowers by only 15mm.

So I asked that question to eibach US directly and didn’t get a reply. So messages eibach UK and this is what they said...

“Hi Damian. I think I can see the issue here. We don't list a kit for the Cupra 4Drive as it doesn't offer anything over and above the OE setup, The 4Drive is lower and firmer from the factory, than the 2WD hence why the quoted lowering is greater for the 2WD model. Your investigation has come to the only spring kit we offer for your car, kit E20-15-021-05-22. The Sportline kit is firmer than the Pro-Kit by around 15% so not a huge amount.

For your info the Golf R Estate Pro Kit is a similar rate (around 5% difference) to the Sportline kit for your car. Whilst the Pro Kit would fit your car physically, it would not sit or work correctly as the dampers are different to yours.

We hope this helps.”

Thanks for that! Look forward to seeing how you get on with them!
