Well thats another ebay disaster (I should have learnt by now !!), I can honestly say what a pile of **** !!, the front top one does not fit , it fouls on just about everything !!!. Not even going to bother to try the others.

Be warned TA-Technix = Pile of **** , would NOT buy and sure as hell cannot recommend them.

Pissed off ain't the word.

So some pictures to help see the issues

You need to cut so much of the mounting plate to get it to fit that the top hole needs to be re-drilled

Doesn't even sit flat on the top of the tower as it doesn't clear the electrical box

Fit is so bad you need to cut the mounting plate off and relocate to allow for the raised lip on the tower

And i should mention thats with the adjuster set all the way in ie: shortest setting

Have you spoken to the seller, just in case they sent out the wrong kit because as you say that dont fit.

Hi mate.
It will fit pretty well but both ends need tweaking.
Left side I removed just a few mm
You can see where rust has started on bottom right side of the left plate. . . ( another job)

On the right you need to remove more of the plate. As there’s a raised seam or such like.

They will sit flat once chopped and bolted down.

As for tensioning , give me 20 mins and I’ll take a look and refresh my memory.

Also. Bolting is a pain.
Rivnuts would be my preferred way to fix next time round.
Easy on and off etc.
Also if you still have your soundproofing in the bonnet it’s going to be a problem closing the bonnet.
Mine is tight without and has even scraped paint on the brace.

Only saving grace for this brace is the knowledge that even the Audi s3 brace usually needs a small bit removed as well to sit flat properly.

So the central nut is attached to a bolt which extends both sides into each section of brace. It has a thread at each end.
When the central nut is turned clockwise ( if remembering correctly) it should reduce the space between the two parts of the brace.
Turning the other way will extend their distance apart.
Once you have a tight bar the two outer bolts are wound towards the respective brace ends, to then lock distance apart.
Sounds as clear as mud when I read that back.
Hope it makes sense.
If that’s not explaining it very well I can try a small vid.

Yuk, looks like cheap and nasty Chinese junk to me.

Audi S3 8L strut brace is the way to go on these cars.
Decent fit and OEM quality, just a tiny shave with a grinder on the nearside mounting plate to clear the bonnet strut.
And yes I always fit them with rivnuts/ nutserts as it not only makes installation easier it makes it a hell of a lot quicker and easier to remove when doing other under bonnet work and you need it out of the way.

Not Chinese, German as it goes and made of pretty good steel too , how ever you are right about them being junk !!.

2 hours with the dremel, anglegrinder and cursing and it still doesn't fit . Wev'e cut so much out we have lost the top mounting holes and now need to re drill them plus cutting a help out of the supporting bracket.

At this point its probably worth throwing it in the bin and just taking the £100 loss on the nose.

Sparkie , I think you were just lucky mate :)

I may well have been lucky. Sounds like a mare.

Good job, its just a pity that they manufacture stuff that does not fit and required your intervention.

If they said that up front then at least you would know and be ready for this.

At least its fitted now, are you going to go on with the other bits or just ignore them.

Yes I will fit the rear and front lower but will be a lot more circumspect about it , for direct fit I will take it might fit with modifications :)

Actually I blame Sparkie , he said it would fit and us old folks are very impressionable :-0
