From today's Autocar, specifically from the separate Cupra supplement that's included:

"2018 SEAT Leon Cupra R ST
As a last hurrah for the currrent generation Leon,Seat confirmed that the R spec estate will come to the UK before the end of the year.Mechanically it is nearly identical to the VW Golf R estate."

Wonder what it will have above and beyond the Carbon?

You have to wonder what the point of the carbon edition was now don’t you...

You could say the same for the R Estate as the MK4 will be out in no time.

I wonder if the above is fake news?
I see that Evo announced such a variant in March, together with a picture with copper accents, but it never happened, not in the UK anyway.
...and isn't it a bit late in the year for this to happen now?

See, I told you @Damo H this might be possible to purchase next year.. as I said before in a conversation we had together, the Cupra St r is the only model I would sell my car for to buy and hopefully dreams do come true, and one day I can have a real one, and Norwich will win the Premiership title lol.

The only difference I can see between the ST R and the carbon:

Copper - not fussed about that
Black callipers - I prefer the red
Intakes on front bumper - already sorting that.
Carbon rear wing - would love this but Netherlands are getting this on their black models

And because of the MY2019:
Updated Digital Cockpit
7 Speed gearbox

So for me the only thing I’d be bothered about is the rear wing.

Edit - never said they wouldn’t do it, just said I’d be very surprised if they did.

Now you’ve mentioned the 7spd dsg... they can shove it..Lol

The other thing Deano you would still need to get a Map done on it as you will be dropping 75 horses which you would notice.

There is plenty of aftermarket stuff out there to make your even more unique than it is now.

Also got to consider, the Carbon was £35,695 RRP and the spec is none existent. So if the ST R is as well spec’d as the 5 door R was the car is probably going to be 40k RRP :O

How much money would you reckon to get the Carbon ST to as near the ST R?

And whatever you do to the Carbon ST it will ultimately be a one off.

Exterior Not including the copper about £2k. It’s the rear wing that makes it £££

But the copper interior is what make it silly to do as you need a full new set of seats and door cards.

It will be a one off if I can get the time and if certain people didn’t keep letting me down.

I do like the look of the Cupra St r, but I think I'll save my money and next year treat the "White Lightening" to downpipe, bbk, revo stage2 and 19"vossen vfs2 in matt black that will do for starters....

If you have a 300 4 drive already, I’d say don’t bother.

I had the 280, coming to 4 years old and it didn’t have the 2 things I’d always wanted from the start, buckets and Sub8. For me I wanted a 300 4 drive with bucket seats and side skirts, the Performance Pack (Sub8) was no longer available in the UK.

So the carbon just made sense if I could get it for the right money, even if it doesn’t have Seat Sound.

I had my eye on a very high spec’d 300 as a back up, only thing it was missing was the side skirts and BBK.

So if you have a 300 4 drive, the Carbon is no quicker. The side blades are just the same as the blades you can get anyway, just a carbon insert instead of black.

I’d say get the full side skirts for your 300 and then get the splitter wrapped in white so the front looks as low as the full skirts.

Honestly, at the moment after the initial 4WD launch, I’d say my 280 certainly felt faster and cornered better due to the diff and PSS tyres :O

Better tyres (PS4S) are going on Friday to help I hope, but got plans to improve the front end feel/grip if not. Would love a proper LSD at the front to go with the 4drive. It would be a weapon then.

Also got plans to improve the power as well (think the Swiss St 370 ;) )

Don’t get me wrong I wouldn’t swap back to my 280, any of the improved Sat Nav, digital dash or seats would be worth everything else and it’s got all 3 not to mention the wheels that look better in the flesh and the BBK.

But I do need to make it properly mine :)

Can you get one to fit?
Probably, but I’d need to take the original spoiler off and also lay the £1500 for the spoiler, and that’s assuming it’s possible without proving I already have an R or based on Netherlands with a 300 black edition that they’re doing

Cheers for the input @Damo H, is the Swiss one done by abt...you not gonna go down the revo/apr route or go custom for more power....
