Yesterday I fitted a Forge dogbone insert (low engine mount in subframe) on my Cupra R 2018 310. No problems, it went well :). Needed to take down the plastic under cover/engine shield to be able to adjust the engine to fit to the bolt. I noticed that the car have a whole cover /engine shield which is bolted in in front/sides and in the sub frame. 3Q0 825 236 C.

My former Golf R I had the half cover 3Q0 825 235 A. This shield leaves the plastic oil pan/sump fully visible when you bend down and look under the front.

Now to my question:
Could another owner of Cupra R limited edition bend down and take a look under the front and report back if you also have the "big" whole cover.

The Cupra R have a rather big front CF splitter which presses in much air via lower grill into the engine bay, therefore I’m considering to open up say 4x 30mm round holes to help the air to evacuate in the rear part of the under shield nearby the subframe since it's a "whole cover".

The one fitted in my Cupra R:

The one fitted in Golf 7 R and GTI. (I suppose also in Cupra 5F):

Grateful for your help.

My 280 has the small one.
I would not worry about it really.
The biggest change in terms of oil temps were the ones tuner did in thermostat controls while changing my engine software. Anything else will have little or no impact at all.

Is the new Cupra R only a manual? There’s only 24 been released in the uk and they’re Already gone aren’t they. Which was obviously going to happen.

Now I’ve read this properly, the full cover probably helps with air flow and reducing lift at the front. I doubt when the car is moving significantly the holes will make a difference to oil temps. Better off having an oil cooler if you’re worried about high oil temps.

I also checked the German tread below about airflow running trough the engine bay.

https://www.golf7gti.com/topic.php?t=606&page=8

They say there is pressure from under the engine which slightly hinder the airflow to go trough the engine bay. This phoneme is prevented with the help of a whole cover 3Q0 825 236 C. This cover have two air inlets to cool the gearbox. Perhaps that’s how it is….
This corresponds with your theory :).

Your cupra r will already have a oil cooler on all Vag group cars they are located on the oil filter housing and are water cooled
