I definitely agree with tinted fogs if done well.

Thanks for your write up. I must say I'm little disappointed in the exhaust from your review.

I'm coming from a silent 280 manual and originally ordered a 300 manual.

When I was told my order was being converted to a DSG, it was the DSG farts e.t.c that I was excited about.

Were they still pretty quiet under heavy acceleration? Under DSG sport mode?

Yeah I'm a little disappointed too if I'm honest. The manual did a loud crack if you got the gear change just right and popped/burbled/crackled on overrun. This does the latter but not the former. I've even taken the rear parcel shelf and boot carpet out to see if that was blocking the sound, but it's not. The pop/bangs seem slightly louder on the new 290 vs old when it auto-blips on down-change, but only if you catch it at the right rpm. It's the damn GPF I think...

Did you get beats? heard conflicting reviews about that upgrade. Don't remember reading any pre week 42's collecting a car with it yet.

Not expecting mine until early/mid December.

No Beats I'm afraid - it sounds the same as before (non-Seat Sound) to be honest. At least there's a spare wheel in my boot floor though!!

Quick Update on my 4 Drive
Built 19th October but STILL showing on way from factory to port.

The delay is due to the technical data being delayed and they wont ship until then. Doesn't make much sense to me to back them up at the port!

Hi all
having read through the past 10-15 pages it is getting me more excited!

ordered my 290 DSG last week with expected delivery in 2/3weeks. looking at the order it states Winter Pack with black leather sports seats, it is not the Lux model. I was also told that the car would have the red callipers etc think it was BW40/41, not to fussed about the 6/7 speed but I would like the newer of the 2.

I had ordered a Skoda Karoq (trying to be sensible) but with lead times of 5 months I cancelled and then this cracker of a deal came up for the Cupra!
owned the 184FR before and I loved that car. I hope the DSG allows the newer 290 to make the same noise on the ups and downs

Anyone still having issues with insurance?

I'm with hastings direct and two days go they quoted me £200 extra but was on a 300 as 290 wasn't showing. Today I rang as i'm picking up the car tomorrow and the 290 was showing on there database but they will not insure me. baffled!

Do dealers come close to the likes of allvehiclecontracts? Is it even worth popping in. I'm about ready I've about 5 months left on mine. My only issue really is the colour, there are very few cupras round these parts to compare, might just go grey again.
JCT 600 matched the IMG deal for me, I even avoided the 12 week wait as they had cancelled order coming in, might be worth a try.

I did but Directline have just insured it as a Cupra 290 TSI DSG 5 DOOR. I think it said 15ON so 2015 onwards but is registered as 2018 build. They have the reg and all gone through at £510. It’s still a sh1te load for 37 year old with a billion years no claims in one of the lowest risk postcode areas, but all others are coming out at £700+

Hey all. Some great looking cars finally getting to their deserved owners.

Slightly off topic - apologies. Just wondering what anyones' thoughts are on the side blades. I have a build week 42 ST arriving next month (presumed coppra) and have a dealer fit price on them of £380 (£130 from me and £250 goodwill from SEAT CS). I believe these are the same part as the 5dr blade. Perhaps I'm a vain mug. But they do seem to work really well with the other lines.... Silly question perhaps.....

Spoke with AXA earlier today as they were coming out the cheapest for me, from what i understood they are aware of the new 290 model but was happy for me to insure as a 300 as he said that is what it is showing as on their site.

I asked that a note was added to the policy to confirm that the car is actually a 290 and was confirmed by myself and they were more than happy to do so.

Assume at some point the 290 model will be available on their site and the change can then be made, i would expect no cost increase as well if this did happen as it has already been confirmed.

5 days later and still waiting for the new finance documents, then have to wait 14 days cooling off.

Car is sat taxed at the dealers, really fed up now. They have know for 3 months the model is changing :banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::censored::censored:

Do Seat usually do more changes at the beginning of the year? Like when they added the virtual cockpit early this year?

We can start our rumours for those now...

Try aviva, they sorted me out for the correct model and for £342 with £150 total excess, spoke to someone as the interweb still doesn’t show the 290

Been there. I was going to get them for my white 5dr.

On the ST I think the side blades are better suited than on the 5dr. What colour have you chosen?

In the end I decided on the full skirts (also a good will gesture). They seemed to make the 5dr look better from more angles.

Didn't realize the manual 290 did all that. Only really heard that on the manual R.

Maybe it's just better sound insulation on the new DSG 290 facelift (clutching at straws )

Yeah, the GPF was always a concern. In contrast the stock 300's I've heard have been very good.

Wondering if the res delete is still a valid option on these cars?

Chose monsoon but getting magnetic. Really tempted to get the blades.

Phoned SEAT CS today - first contact with CS since I ordered the first week in Feb to get their thoughts on no spare wheel. Not interested - dealer's problem I am told. Dealer had originally told me to phone them. Did end up chatting to someone in the finance team though - maybe I need to try a bit harder and get through to the long-term customer retention department. I jest.

I also ordered a brochure from the SEAT website last week and got a follow up call today from UK sales. He lost interest when I said I wasn't after fleet sales. I explained to him that I was trying to find out what the car I had ordered in February would look like and I also stated my slight annoyance at all the tampering they've done cosmetically since I've ordered it and he really couldn't wait to get rid of me. Nice Leon brochure anyway.

Okay, so I slightly retract my statement about no DSG noise on gear change...I heard one today out of 2nd into 3rd! I noticed it more on the previous 290 and 300 but maybe it’ll get louder.
