Same here. The boot struts along with the door release badge and now the petrol cap solinoid all get a good dosing of silicon spray.... Don't use wd40 people.. That's a releasing penetrant. It will work for a short time then gum up and make things 10x worse... Invest in silicone spray.. Including down the sides of the door/window runners.. Help with windows sliding up and down..

Hi Guys,

I am new to the forum. I have just taken delivery of my new Seat Leon Fr 1.4 EcoTsi 5 door, 2018 plate , great car so far.

I have done some Carista changes, nothing special as of yet. But my next job is the go for the auto pop boot. Because i am on the 5 door model what length of strut would i need? I see someone above mentioned for 3 and 5 door the length needed is different. I also assume i will need 515N as a min.

Thanks in advance :coolthumb

The struts for 3 & 5 door are the same, it's the ST that is different. The type you need is above.

I bought some of the skoda ones listed in the thread earlier and they did not fit my 3 door SC Seat Leon.
I had to get the 483mm ford focus ones from Ebay.
They fit great but did not lift the boot even though they are 530N.
I put a 50mm spring onto one of the boot struts, and now the boot pops every time.

Not sure why you had issues, the standard Seat strut is 494mm long, 183.5 stroke, 410nm force. The Stabilus ones listed ( and I have had fitted to previous 280 and current 290) have a length of 492mm, stroke of 184mm and a force of 515nm. They are for the Skoda Octavia. They lift the boot fine from the key fob.

I hope the ones I’ve bought fit. Just noticed they’re 515mm, 184 and 515nm of force.

Apologies for bringing this up again, but can someone point me in the direction of the correct ones to buy? Quite a few different links being thrown around and unsure which to order...
