Ordered yesterday

Ordered with Chilwell SEAT - Nottm yesterday.

SEAT LEON - FR Technology- 2.0 184 TDI in Mystery Blue. 18” alloys after being told 8 weeks additional lead for 17”.
Only extra was convenience pack plus.

Estimated ‘at worst’ delivery date 31st March. 12-16 weeks apparently.

Will be interesting after reading this thread

Actually have my fingers crossed for March for 18 plate

I've just sent my last ditch attempt email to SEAT in the hope theyre going to sort out my current 32 week lead time. No attempt to get the build week changed so far, nor any offer of goodwill for the delay.

If they can't sort it next week I'm going to be looking at a Golf GTD lease which is in stock

So after complaining about my delivery being later than advised, they have denied responsibility and said that estimates are only from acceptance date (which Seat decide on when that is). I have been told that I should receive the car in week 51. When I asked about the confirmed build date they said one has still not been set, this is despite week 51 being next month.

Does anyone know how long the process is from the build date to delivery at dealership?

Once it's built it's generally 3 to 4 weeks till it lands at the dealers v

I ordered a Leon FR Technology 1.4 (150) manual in Urban Silver yesterday. Was given an estimated delivery date of 31 March but sounds from this thread like that could be optimistic!

Does anyone have any photos of the Leon in Urban Silver? Preferably with the standard FR wheels? There don't seem to be many on Google, the only ones I could find were Cupras and mainly professional photos that were heavily filtered. I think it looks great on the Cupra with the black mirrors and machined alloys but worried it will look too bland on the FR.

Saw one in mystery blue outside the showroom when I went to order and it looked amazing but having previously decided on the silver I stuck with that, but now wondering if I should try to change the order...

I ordered in late July and my order wasn’t accepted by the factory until September because they’re shut during August, but this was taken into account when I was given a delivery estimate by the dealership at the time of order.

If you were given an estimate of how long it would take to get the car when you ordered it, that’s when you should expect it. The dealership and SEAT can argue about who is responsible for what behind closed doors, but you the customer should get the car when you were advised. And if they can’t, they should be offering an appropriate goodwill gesture to compensate you for the order arriving later than promised.

It's like I'm talking to a brick wall when it comes to Seat, which is incredibly frustrating.

This is the latest response I got:

I can advise that the build week for your vehicle is not confirmed at this time.

I have been informed that the information provided, was given on the assumption that this was a retail order. Please accept my apologies for any confusion this may have caused.

However, the Leasing Team should advise that lead times are subject to acceptance at Factory. Specific dates are not specified. The Dealerships (Lease Team in this case) work on lead times in weeks. Hence, our advice that the vehicle lead time of week commencing 18 December is correct, as this is worked out from date of acceptance.

Our Sales Office confirm this is not a delay and your expectations should have been managed in accordance with this advice.

As previously advised, if your vehicle arrives later than this date, we will happily look at some form of goodwill gesture.

SEAT are on their very last chance with me now. I refuse to accept that it takes as long as 30 weeks from order to delivery to get a new car. Being told to wait 24 weeks was unacceptable enough, but I was putting up with that because the dealership was honest and said this is how long it will take.

They are continuing with the line of "we won't offer a goodwill gesture until we know exactly how long the car is delayed by". You already know the car is going to be late if the build week stays at Week 2. It's supposed to be here Week 3. It's going to be late - so tell me what you're going to offer me! Convince me to keep the order!

Because they won't, I honestly feel like they'd rather have me cancel the order and go elsewhere.

The solution, as I told them today, is to get the bloody build week sorted so it arrives within the estimate. Then they don't need to give me a goodwill gesture. But if it is going to arrive on time, they're going to need to get it built near the start of December because with Christmas coming up, even an early December build isn't going to arrive until Week 1-2.

Demanded a call back tomorrow with an update on the build week. If it's still not confirmed, or it's confirmed for any week in January, I'm demanding they tell me what they're going to give me as a goodwill gesture or I get a Golf GTD on lease for the same money which is in stock

I have never experienced customer service like this before. Absolutely appalling so far.

I've now got a confirmed build week 49 which is 27 weeks after ordering. Should get the car in early January.

Good lord you have the patience of a saint

I'm unconfirmed Week 1 now (a whole week earlier than before) expected late Jan/early Feb.

I'll get the dealership to keep it until March for an 18 plate i think

I’ll update the spreadsheet with everything later.

I gave up on Raheel, he was no use. To be fair to the dealer they’ve been spot on! Had an email from them last week, they took my issues to a regional meeting they had with the VWFS regional manager and someone high up in SEAT UK. Apparently the SEAT UK rep said he was embarrassed by the delay.

My current Leon has now been extended to 31st January with talk of a mobex (courtesy) car after that date if needed.

No movement on the new one. To be honest I think those build dates are a load of rubbish. The build weeks are fluid so I can see why SEAT won’t confirm goodwill until after delivery.

Bottom line for me now, I’ll wait as long as it takes and hope they hold true on their word for a mobex car, if needed.

It’s been that long since I ordered that I’m now in the process of buying a house though, completion expected Feb/Mar. The broker has said its best that I don’t take on any new credit between mortgage offer and completion, and therefore to delay the car delivery.

Do you think the dealer would wait a few weeks, perhaps into March if I explained the circumstances above?

Definitely worth talking to them. My dealer said if the car arrived late Jan or into Feb they’d keep hold of it until March. I imagine they won’t like keeping it on site for toooo long, but I think if you ask them they’ll be willing to accommodate

Good to know, thank you. I think delivery is potentially due early Feb so I doubt they’d want it sitting around until March. A bit frustrating really as the mortgage broker has said they can credit check you again between offer and completion.

I had an interesting conversation with Seat yesterday. My order was due (according to the dealer) in or around the end of November/early December which was fine. Still have an unconfirmed build week of 9 2018.

So i rang to say if there is anything they can do with regard to the orders as i have managed to extend my current lease till mid March so no point in this one arriving earlier.

It seems they cant request your build week is brought forward which was expected, however it also seems that they are unable to say to the factory to put a car on hold either and have it built on the unconfirmed build week. So it looks like i could potenitally end up with current lease and then the new one sat at the dealers as well.

How come other manufactuers in the group can say "Do not deliver before this date" but Seat are unable to? Crackers

Still waiting any solid news on our car. 1.8fr dsg in Urban silver, 18" wheels and convenience ordered on 5th July. It was supposed to be built during this week but I'm yet to hear anything from the dealer. Is there anyone that's been waiting longer than me?

Luke and Snarks have been waiting a bit longer than you, but their orders are 1.4 EcoTSI which did have longer delays. I ordered three weeks after you but my car isn’t due to be built until January (and still unconfirmed).

If you have your order number, give SEAT Customer services a ring and chase it up.
