Hi Guys

I've read through this post.

I have the 5FO system, albeit, I'm not sure of the version right now.

Could someone copy and paste the instructions for this system. I've read the entire post and remember reading the work-around which had 4 steps, however, I cannot remember what page this was on and don't fancy going back through 36 pages and 700 posts to find it!
Read it again chief, there's no workaround for 5F0...... Unfortunately

I've just re-found the post myself!

Buggar!

On that note then, can someone just tell me how to input a postcode as this is my biggest bug bear on my system, I so far have not found this feature despite owning the car for 6 weeks!

Go to address and it should be in the bottom left. Must admit I didn't see it first time round

Don't worry it's there mate, I had to ask the same question. In the town section when pressed you will see that in the corner there is a soft key marked pstcde or something like that. Basically it's hidden in the town section. It makes no sense to anyone.

The SSD Mib2 which is the Seat Plus / Skoda Columbus / VW Discovery Pro ECE 2018 seems to be out for those with the said unit who want to experiment, not the SD card version based unit. Can be downloaded from a Russian site although nothing to Russian about it just links to the standard VW file server where historic map downloads are held.

https://www.drive2.ru/l/486687278236697455/

That's 166 release for 2018.

The direct link is

http://vw.download.navigation.com/a...High2_Single_File_EU/P166_N60S5MIBH3_EU_NT.7z

Normally these all end up on a VW download site. So by frigging with the web link of a known past one you can find the next release before its put up across the VW group. Might have been how they got it. Out of the country, but invite SD Mib2 6F people to hunt down the ECE 2018 release if they want too or just wait. You find the 820 release indexed in the Vag download library then find the new one by trying out the guessed link on the next seriel code... that's the technique that people have used in the past.

See below the link under zeffania for those that want to make an early start.

I am sorry Zeffania but it does not work this way. There is no official possibility to simply update system by using downloaded data without mapcare. I would like to find out some cheat let me to do it without paying for original new SD card every year. Let me to move ahead I am looking for some information how update procedure works if I have original new SD card.

I hate my 5F0 sat nav, can't add personal POI (Geo coord). Anyone know if it's possible to upgrade 5F0 (MIB1) to 6P0 (MIB2)? Anyone done it?

I just bought a brodit clip to do away with mine, free mobile sat-nav it is. Such a shame as turn by turn on the MFD is really good

Thanks Petous as well on the link to the all the updates for SSD and SD based units for ECE 2018. For anybody else see post 701 on what can be used with what. You don't have to wait till they appear on the Seat site.

I've just installed 0915, from the Skoda site, on my MIB2 and all is fine!

Not sure why, but one of my mobiles disappeared from Bluetooth, so had to re-set that up. Could have been that it wasn't in range when it was first switched on.

One other thing was that it failed to allow me to set up a route to most of my Favourites. I just had to delete them and recreate them. I'm sure I had to do that when going to 0820.

Going out later, so will see if a journey is navigated without any issues.

Steve, the favourites issue sounds like they might have gone back to being fussy on the space in the postcode. The November 2016 release, 2017 version required all of the postcode to be concatenated inward and outward, first section and last section if my memory serves me correct, no space. The consequence was what was held in the favourites didn't pass correctly since people had spaces in them. Effected all of these VW based unit in the release and people had to redo their favourites. This was sorted out in the June 2017 release when they reverted back to the previous logic of allowing spaces... perhaps they now enforce the space ?. It could be that they have accidentally fallen back to the previous logic which isn't correct or some variant on this. On the continent the zip code section is just a region and numbers in general so the developers arent really that good at handling the postcode.

I'd try taking out the space in the postcode if you can't get it to work by re-entering without the space or with the space if they are now enforcing spaces. The logic before was flexible on the space.

I'm going to try my incremental update on the Plus unit latter in the week. I might find the same, hope not and that might be part of the area I can't update in any case.

Attempted to update my MIB1 system to the new 2018 maps with no luck so far.
I currently have version "5F0919866F 0036 ECE 2014" on my MY14 Leon with SD card version v4.

I followed the update instructions here
http://www.navigation.com/is-bin/IN...t=application/ApplicationFrame_campaign_light

Which basically state to extract the new maps straight onto the SD card. This didn't work. I also tried to modify the dbinfo.txt file in the root directory to contain the part number I already have "5F0919866F". This time the system took 10 minutes to load the navigation data before saying it was invalid.

I also keep coming across information stating that for MIB1 systems MapCare is required as the car will not allow you to run newer maps than the ones shipped with the car.
Will try and find a way of bypassing this.

Unfortunately I'm away for the week from Wednesday so this could take some time.

I will be interested to see how you get on. I tried a standard SD card and that was a big no no. Knew straight away it wasn't for the sat-nav. I tried loading on the update, but found my SD card was too small by about 20-30MB. Dealer and Sear CS are being useless.

This was sorted out in the June 2017 release when they reverted back to the previous logic of allowing spaces...

I just had to go out in the car, so I entered a destination via its postcode, and it doesn't let you enter a space.

On my journey to work, there's several new 50 MPH speed limits, so I hope this time that the speed limit changes are on this release.

Ok then it appears they have reverted back to their old code for 2017 which they corrected for but put back in. I assume it works fine without the space as did with the November 2016 release (2017).

On the 50 MPH business you can load up the PC Here Maps editor and check how they have them on their database and update them yourself....18 months later they may arrive. I do quite a bit of editing on the maps and corrections that I find. I check the speed limits on the source data when I find the car is showing the wrong speed limit although I have traffic sign recognition so if it doesn't see a new sign from the last the speed gets set low although the inherent speed from the data gets read in at some stage. Confounding element when I check bits of road.

The routing doesn't work too well on roundabout slips roads for no apparent reason, must be the grading on the roads but as I recall I wasn't privileged to edit that. I get taken off a main road, pass another roundabout a 1/2 mile later rejoin the road it took me off. The roads are in but.... on a simple slip road on a roundabout it misses the slip.
