Apparently so! I was a bit surprised too.

I got a call from a case manager at Seat today who introduced himself a and we talked about the issue for a bit. He said his next steps are to call the dealership and their branch support.

I didn't say what I wanted to happen, but the preference is to get the car built quicker. If they can't do that, I will ask how they plan to compensate me for the delay. I don't know what would be reasonable to expect... But I think 3 years free servicing would be a nice gesture ;)

If the build week stays as 3 for delivery in Feb, I will likely ask the dealer to register the car in March for the new plates.

I will let you know what happens and if Seat does offer a goodwill gesture.

Let us know how you get on. The case manager who keeps calling me to tell me it’s delayed said he has no influence over the production department so would be good to know what they offer others.

Update my end - spoke to a Customer Complaints Manager yesterday - Rasheel - somewhat embarrassing when he comes on the phone and can't even get basic details right about the case. I have little faith he'll be able to offer any assistance. He basically said he'll ring another team for an update and call me back on Wednesday. Probably the same team they speak to when you ring yourself and get told different dates each time. I'm not holding my breath!

Hah Luke, I think I was speaking to the same guy today. Let us know how you get on with him if he rings you tomorrow. I'm expecting a call back by Thursday afternoon :D

Gents (and ladies too if any),

Spreadsheet updated -

Nice to see a bit more green appearing now.

Mikeyh22, op_ and Bailey518 - have you got yours yet?

For your spreadsheet, there's a couple of options missing from my order: leather, Driver Convenience Pack Plus, KESSY, and 18" Performance Alloy Wheels.

Not heard that my car has been delayed any further, so all being well, the little Spaniards will get the instructions out for my car next week!

FAO Luke - not sure if the salesman meant confirmed or not.

But he did say I should have it by 6th December, so I hope it's confirmed.

Not holding my breath mind!

I’m absolutely livid! Just spoke to the customer complaints manager.

I’m now unconfirmed build week 4!!!!!!!!!

Gone from week 44, to week 46 to week 49 back to week 46, then week 49 and now week 4!? Wtf!!

The guy on the phone was useless, didn’t have answers to my questions:

What’s causing the delay? - don’t know
Will adding the 18” alloys make a difference? - don’t know
Can you extend my current Leon PCP? - don’t know

Kept on saying he was going to phone the dealer for an update. I said, what on earth will the dealer tell you about factory delays, stop passing the buck and give me some answers!

I ended up losing it and telling him if he can’t get the vehicle to me before Xmas, provide me with a courtesy car or extend my current Leon then I’m not interested and that I’ll order something else.

Good luck. He's no help whatsoever. See my latest post.

Ahhhhh crap. Totally agree with you on the "phone the dealer" front - they're not going to do any better if you're talking build weeks, but contacting them could potentially lead to compensation.

Is he going to call you back?

Unfortunately that kind of threat won't have much impact, as they've got so much more demand than they can supply that may want to encourage cancellations

Calling back Friday. His tone of voice makes me doubt very much he’ll be able to help though.

I pointed out that someone on here (FNeves) ordered late September, FR, ECOTSI but with 18” alloys and has a confirmed build week of 47 but he just said “well I don’t know”.

Compensation will only be sorted after delivery apparently.

It goes without saying but make sure you get any promise of compensation in writing, and whatever it is going to be should be agreed before delivery.

That sounds a lot like my discussion with them yesterday Luke...

Spent today back-and-forth asking the dealer what's going on, can I get a temporary car, etc. etc.

No further forward as of yet.

I've been dealing with Raheel. He didn't have any specific information and said my car would probably be built in the next couple of weeks or so. This bore no resemblance to what my dealer told me. He's going to call back next week.

Keep us updated mate. I really don’t want to cancel but I can’t be without a car for 6-7 weeks.

He offered little more than sympathy and a vague promise of goodwill. I don't think he'd done any research on my order, hence the rather vague "should be built soon" response with no further specifics.

Glad it’s not just me.

It struck me that he just counted forward 28 weeks (apparently I was told the lead time was 28 weeks when I ordered) from my order date, and even then he was wrong haha.

He has no knowledge of what options I ordered, even told me the 18” wheels were causing delays, until I told him I hadn’t ordered 18” alloys.

This will be my fifth Leon. I've always bought from stock before and got my car within a month. This time I specced the "car of my dreams" which meant a factory order and got a price match on a carwow offer.

If I cancel this and order from stock, I don't think I'd get the same discount and wouldn't get everything I wanted.

I will be disappointed if the car doesn't arrive until late January/February. That's just a few weeks before the 18 plate and I don't know if the dealer would be prepared to wait until March 1 given that my trade-in will depreciate even further. I don't think they make much money from carwow deals. I got the impression that they sell the cars cheap to boost the sales figures. My usual dealer was £1500 adrift when I tried to get them to match the price.

I’m just hoping this “manager” hasn’t got a clue and is spouting a load of rubbish.

I just don’t see how my order can go fron week 49 and them telling me it’ll be confirmed in two weeks, to week 4 in a matter of 3 days.

My usual dealer was £1500 adrift when I tried to get them to match the price.

I ordered through DriveTheDeal and got £6,000 off the list price. When I went to my local dealer, where I had my first Leon from, they were £3,000 short of the same offer.

This is only possibly likely because the dealer that placed the order is happy to take a hit on a car because they needed and order to make up their stats for that month/period.

But the bad thing is that you lose the leverage of threatening to cancel because they aren't making any money on the car - and they have plenty of other orders that will make them more.

This forces you into a corner where you don't want to lose the great offer that you've got by cancelling, and you know you won't get another offer like it any sooner - and there simply aren't any alternative vehicles that you'll get the same spec on for anywhere near the same price. So you feel like you have to just put up with the fact that it's going to be a 6/7/8 month wait.

This is why I don't feel too confident about getting any sort of compensation from Seat for failing to stick to their initial estimate of 22-24 weeks - they just won't care if they're making a loss - and would rather I cancel than have to shell out even more money to keep me happy.
