Ok so I had a thread a while back regarding my aircon not working.
Sadly problem not fixed.
So there are no leaks. It's been gassed 3 times.
The compressor kicks in to begin with. I get coldish air for a couple of minutes. Then it all goes warm.
There are no fault codes what so ever.
As I understand it there isn't they much to an aircon system, not loads to go wrong.
I've had 2 different mechanics look at it and both are scratching their chins. Wondering, wondering.
Could it be a sensor telling the unit it's made it cold? Or a thermostat that doesn't work?
I'm clueless re all this stuff.
Could there be a problem with the dash mounted part?
I'm almost ready to start replacing sensors one by one trying to get lucky.
Anything rather than take it to a main dealer and have my pants pulled down.
Anyone out there have any ideas?
I really want to sort this problem out, as it's the only thing on the whole car that is not running perfectly and my OCD is kicking in and driving me slightly
Also need it to clear screen and drivers window as winter approaches.
Especially as I'm losing the drivers side air vent for my liquid gauge.
Appreciate your time guys. Cheers.

You say there are no fault codes mate, is that when scanned with VCDS though? ..... Nothing else will read codes from the aircon as far as i know.

As far as I know. I'll. heck the system that the mechanics are using but I'm pretty sure it is.

Yeah, i could be wrong and maybe the fancy snap-on readers that cost a few grand might be able to do it, but as far as i know they can just do airbags/abs/engine etc and you need VCDS to scan locks/aircon/alarm etc etc

The climatronic system is pretty complicated tbh, it's far from just a few componants and the unit that controls it could be cutting the power for any number of reasons. When connected to vcds you can look at multiple sensors and run output tests on the relays etc etc

The climatronic system itself has some sort of onboard diagnosics output via the screen, i will try and find the info for you.

Lol, yh it is a complicated system. However just use the first bit of the article to put it in to self diagnostics mode and see if you get the all clear or have something stored.......

Accessing On-Board Diagnostic codes
Press and hold the recirculation button. Then press the manual flow control up arrow. You should see a 1c. Press the temperature up ("+") or down ("-") buttons to select a code number. Then press the recirculation button again. The value should display. Press the temperature up or down button again to display another code.

Use the above to go into diagnostic mode, then select code 1, then compare the output to the table of fault codes further on down in the article. If you get 00.0 then you have no fault codes, anything else and the answer is on the list.

Once again a huge thank you.
I'll try it out tomorrow and let you know how it goes. Thanks.

No worries. Hopefully you will have something stored that will shed some light on the issue.

Ok some weird sh:censored: going on with my car.
Firstly tried to put the AC into diagnostic mode but it wouldn't do it.
BUT I have some Self healing going on. Now the AC is working really well producing uber cold air!?!
I switched it on to see how long it took to get warm pressed a few buttons, windscreen demist then back to auto. Left it running and hey presto all working at present. Very odd.
The only thing that I can see that was different was ( bare with me )
On the consol. When auto is selected and ac turns on. When I then turn off the ac part of the system with bottom left button ( snow flake ).
The word Auto was disappearing from the screen and just temp and speed were visible along with a fan sign on the right.
From experience with my other Leon the word Auto should remain.
Now when I hit the "snow flake " to off. The word Auto is present throughout and is back to normal. Producing cold air.
Of course I'm very pleased but don't know what made this happen.
Weird.

Glad to hear it is working again, strange that it won't go into diagnostic mode though. I tried it on mine this morning and it goes straight in by pressing the bottom right and top right buttons together. Anyway, as long as it is working thats the main thing mate.

Ok I have it working.
On 1C values are 0
Lots of the others scrolling through have values. Are they all faults? There's tons.

No only 1C shows faults, others are all data values.

If 1C comes back as 0.0, then all should be well, no fault codes stored.

Need to try this. Mine kicks out cold air but the car never really gets colder for some reason. I put it on 19 and the fans just continue at near maximum forever

When was it last gassed? Do you use it every week.? Needs to be run to keep seals lubricated.
