Not much to update on this lately as have taken a break away from the car whilst getting Xmas bits sorted. Needs some front tyres and a service so looking at getting some semi slicks for the front. Swaying towards Nankang NS-2R or the Yoko ad08r.

Also got another project in the works of fitting a raspberry pi unit in so can play emulated games in the car.

Got a few recent pictures of the car and our line up one night of some decent powered cars we went out for a run with.

I've built many RetroPie consoles! Now I need this in my car! How did you manage that! I neeeeeeed this. The whole car is amazing! But that's the bonus ball right there!

Hi mate, can't take the credit for the above photo as was a guy on the mk5 page that done it.

But fairly simple just need a hdmi input to your double din head unit then a 5v 2.5a supply for the raspberry pi unit.

Had to get some new front tyres so decided to go with some Nankang NS -2R tyres with 180 Street compound. Interested to see what these grip like although wrong time of the year to fully push them.

Also fitted a gfb dv+ whilst I was at it, throttle response and partial throttle driving feels a lot smoother. So a good purchase in my eyes.

I had those Nankang's on the front of my car this past summer, grip was very good in the dry and they were okay in light rain. I found them too noisy, so I went back to using Yoko ADo8's-

Just a couple small mods lately, have been trying not to spend money on the car. Purchased some rear diffuser fins and some front splitter tie bars rods.

Nice little job after having to replace my front wheel bearing that had started to lock up whilst cornering!

Gives it that nice little edge and stands out more now.

What are the tyres like mate looking at putting them on my Ibiza
They've been good so far. One of my mates that does a lot of track days rates the federal rsr's. Just waiting for the warmer weather to really give them a pasting!

Had a nice package from Ksport arrive last week after a long wait on delivery. Decided it was time to upgrade the brakes and settled for the Ksport 8 pot calipers with 356mm discs and Ferodo Ds2500 pads.

Fitted over the weekend and greatly improved pedal feel and bite, bearing in mind it's still within the bedding in period.

Here's some pics of the kit and install

Apologies if this has been covered already, what lights have you put on the car mate? They look non-standard. Is that a tint?

Cheers for the comments, taken me a while to get it where it's at now. They are the optional upgrade bi xenon headlights and have had them tinted by a friend.

Very nice build ! Just looking at the recent brakes I haven't got grands to spend on a brake kit but I been recommended the ds2500 pads from a lot of people so defenitley want to get them, where best place to buy from and what discs could I get that are half decent ?

Hey buddy sorry for late reply, yeah ds2500, mintex m1144 or m1155 I think also pagid rs4 pads all rated well. Look at either mtec c hook discs or the vagbremtechnic ones

hey where did you get fins from? ive been looking for a rear diffuser for ages to go with triple r splitter. fins would suffice for now. How is the fit?

Hi mate they fins are on eBay, there's two different types on there one has the k1 stickers on them. Fit is good, screwed in through the back of the bumper.

Update!

Just finished fitting the Audi A3/RS3 air vents as a conversion. There is done minor trimming involved but the whole job too around 20 minutes for both sides.

Tools required,

Plastic trim tools,
Long nosed pliers,
Hacksaw blade.

Here's a link to a guide on audi-sport.net if you want to paint the air vent flaps red to make them like the RS3 ones. It's an excellent step by step guide and took me around 1 hour inc painting.

First step you will need to take the side fusebox cover off the side of the dashboard, the same panel will need to be removed for the passenger side.

Then grab your trim tools and insert a thinner one inbetween the vent and the dash. The dash is fairly flexible so it can be levered against to a degree just be careful not to cause damage to it.

Rotate the trim tool around the vent, and in the 10 o'clock, 2 o'clock, 4 o'clock and 8 o'clock positions start to lever the vent out.

Once it has started to come away from the dash, grab your wider trim tool. Use that to lever the vent out and repeat the process of rotating the thinner trim tool around the vent.

With a bit of pulling it will eventually come out further. At this point the inner air duct in the dashboard will be holding the vent in. BE CAREFUL!!! As the air vent temp sensors are in the pipe.

I gave both the vents a firm pull and they released from the air duct.


The next step is to prepare the dash recess for the vent. In the corners there are tabs for holding the original vent in place. These will need to be trimmed down using a hacksaw blade to make the recess into a circle.

Grab your vents, there will be a raised section on the top and bottom of them that will need to be trimmed off. Repeat this for both sides.

Now you will be ready to fit your vents. If you have followed the above linked guide for painting, use the long nosed pliers to release the centre section of the vent. This allows you to apply more pressure to the vents whilst fitting, without the risk of pushing you palm through the vent.

When fitting the cog adjustment wheel on the side of the vent needs to be facing to the right, otherwise the vent will not go into the dash fully.

Hopefully now you should have your vents fitted and can sit back with a nice beer with a much nicer looking dashboard!
