@Havsgaard: OBDeleven looks great as a VCDS alternative but sadly they don't offer a version which runs on a Windows laptop!

@who.am.i: I'm happy to use a clone and have done with VAG-COM. Sadly a quick search on ebay and "chinatown" isn't giving many results (avoiding ELM327). Could you or anyone else post (or PM) me a link to the one they purchased.

Thanks.

So far,i had only one moment that vcds should be original ross tech. Otherwise clone works superb fo me. I dont miss any updating and other stuff

VAG Familia

My post probably wasn't clear, what i ment is that since the update on the genuine Ross tech cable- which arnt reversible - it doesn't work on the Leon mk3 for a lot of the mods in this thread, so your better of with a clone until they get a solution.
I'm in the ridiculous situation of having the genuine cable, but having to now buy or borrow a clone to do the other mods I want

Anyone here per chance knows what this is?
What I don't quite get, is why it is located under power steering, so I am a bit confused with it.

Direct Acceleration - Throttle response
With this mod, you can change the behavior of the accelerator. Option B provides a more linear acceleration without sudden deliveries.
1 - Module 44 - Power steering. Code (19249)
2 - Adaptation
3 - Select - switching driving profile
Choices :
A - Gradual, controlled by time
B - Directly controlled threshold value

Limits power delivery to the driven wheels when steering not in the straight ahead position?

Don't know that is just a quess from the fact it seems to link the throttle to the steering angle sensor

Hi guys,

I have a problem I can not set the mirrors folding, pressing one button. I have Seat Leon FR MY 2016, and original VCDS 16.8, and doing it exactly:
Select 09
Function 16
Enter Unlock Code 31347
Function 10
Select (22) access control mode 2 radio Spiegelanklappung
choose 'would look command via remote control key'

But when I enter Channel 22 - drop me a "error channel not available". Does anyone know what to do?

thanks

l have the same problem after up dating from 15.7 to 16.8 most of the adaptions I want show up as error not available. I have contacted Ross-Tech about this and sent them my scans but I am still waiting for them to get back to me. My advice is not to up grade if you have a Mk3 and stick to the 15 version for the time being but its to late for me. aggie

I have had these problems and can confirm it does work with 15.7 and not 16.8

I am currently working with ross tech on a solution to this problem and confident they will fix it very soon.
I have a new version to test over the next few days, so watch this space.

I keep you all informed

Thanks
Phil

Personally I think they should allow a re flash so us genuine users can use 15.7 and get functionality back until a solution is found!

+ 1 on that

People do the right thing and buy the genuine Ross tech vcds cable at 20 times the cost of a clone cable.

Apart from it being the right thing to do the One main reason is for the support, they have been aware of the issue with the mk3 and the latest 16.x update not working for some time, so as stu-m said, why don't they let us backdate to 15.x till they find a more permanent solution

Otherwise what's the point of anyone spending £300 on a £20 cable

Anyway rant over, I'm off to dry my leon out, although if I'd had a working vcds cable I'd have activated the rain close function weeks ago and would be drinking beer instead

This is the response I got from Ross-Tech but I have not been able to change to 16-8-2-2 as I am missing RT-usb .dll so I am stuck any ideas? I believe we have a potential fix for this that we'd like you to try. Unfortunately it's a little more complicated than running a new installer but it shouldn't be too bad.

First, make a copy of your whole C:\Ross-Tech\VCDS\ folder and name it something else like:

C:\Ross-Tech\VCDS-1682\

Next, in the new folder, delete all of the files found here:

C:\Ross-Tech\VCDS-1682\UDS_EV\

There should be 5032 of them so this may take a while.

Next, save this file and open it open it with WinZip/WinRAR/7zip:

http://download.ross-tech.com/VCDS/download/tmp/DS260-0.rar

Save all of the files in there (should be 6248 of them) to the folder you emptied:

C:\Ross-Tech\VCDS-1682\UDS_EV\

Finally, save this file:

http://download.ross-tech.com/VCDS/download/tmp/VCDS-16-8-2-2-x86.zip

... and open it with WinZip/WinRAR/7zip and copy the enclosed VCDS.EXE file here (replacing the one that already exists):

C:\Ross-Tech\VCDS-1682\

Please try using that version (make sure it says Release 16.8.2) to view Adaptation values in your 09 module and let us know the results. We would appreciate an AutoScan. If you encounter problems, please go to Options and set Debug to 1024 then try reading one of the adaptation channels that's failing and send us the contents of the Debug folder.

Regards,
Andy

I have just done this myself and I have been successful. I am now also able to perform the adaptions we were having issues with.

Going to report back to Ross tech.

Looks like they fixed it

Update is coming very soon (hopefully this week) that should fix all issues with 16.8.

System runs much faster with the new version and I also found a lot of new adaption channels to play with.

Hello, please anyone with cable can you help me? I want to turn DRLs to always ON, I have halogen lights and when I turn on the low beam lights, DRLs turn off and I wanna change that. Led Leons have DRLs with Low beams ON. Please find the code for me and I can give you some money if you want.

I'm having problems finding a VCDS clone cable. I really can't justify £250+ for the genuine cable given my DIY/light use needs. There were some on AliExpress but they've disappeared! Can someone point me to where they got theirs please?

Alternatively ODBEleven was recommended by Havsgaard, which is at least a genuine product but I'm not sure that it supports label files or what each bit does for coding etc? Assuming I didn't want to use the apps can anyone clarify its use?

Thanks.
