I've just become the owner of a 5F SC. Unfortunately it had some aftermarket parking sensors fitted rather badly. The power was taken off the reverse light wire in the bootlid harness. There is a gaiter between the boot lid and roof. I took the roof end off to access the harness and remove the spliced wire and try to repair the harness. Unfortunately the damage done to the gaiter when it was removed forcefully by the person fitting the sensors meant the clips were cracked and weakened. When I unclipped it it was surprisingly easy and one of the clips fell apart.
Now the gaiter won't clip back into the roof correctly and so won't seal. I'm sure it's going to let water in. I need some advice on how to replace the part. The whole boot lid harness is going to have to go through the new part (is that possible?). I guess I've got to get the boot lid trims off so I can unplug every connector and thread it through the new gaiter.
Gaiter part no. is 5G6 971 829B so you know what I'm on about.
Does anyone have any experience of doing this and how difficult it might be? Is it going to be fixable? Quite unhsppy since I've just got the car. I just wanted to remove the parking sensor wirings etc because it was such a crappy 14.99 kit. Thanks for any help!
