HI all,

I'm 3 months into owning my first mk1 leon whcih is a 1.8T FR.

Got a few problems and was looking for some tips please:

First issue is trying to find a replacement rear wiper but no one seems to have one the hook curls up rather than the normal towards the car. Even the garage said they didn't know! Is my fitted wrong or am I just being silly?? If it's easy was thinking of the fabia conversion any one done this and is it a straight swap?

Second thing when I get in the car the rear sqeaks any ideas? Could be springs but wouldn't have any idea how to stop the squeak.

Third thing is lumpy running in say low speeds in 3rd or 4th put your foot down and it becomes lumpy sometimes. Could this be coils? I had one go and only replaced the one. Should I have replaced all 4?

Sorry for the long list but trying to get things back to perfect.

Thank you

Hi mate welcome to the forum.

Ok first off not sure about the clip etc but the fabia conversion is literally a case of unbolting one bolt and swapping the wiper arm over so i'd just do that. Ebay used to have a kit not sure if they still do.

Not sure about the squeaky suspension but the lumpy running might well be a split PCV hose, have a look at all the hoses that run underneath the inlet manifold. No need to remove the manifold itself, just the metal bracket that bolts to the underneath of it.
Nothing wrong with just replacing the 1 faulty coil, most of us just keep a spare or 2 in the boot.

Hope thats some help for you.

You're welcome buddy. Dead easy to change, just spray the bolt with some wd40 few mins before you swap it over to loosen the arm on it's splines. Looks and operates so much better than the standard one.

Split PCV pipes under the manifold are a common problem on the 1.8t, they have a hard life with hot oil vapours flowing through them all the time. Let us know how you get on.

Hi on the pvc hoses do they offer after market ones? Thinking about upgrading even if it hasn't gone to make sure it's ok. Cheers

Yeah you can upgrade pretty much all pipes on the engine, just finding the right ones.

There is a seller on eBay who's selling a wiper set, Bosche Areo ones, which are front and rear.

No worries mate, glad to hear you've got it fitted. I think they look loads better than the OEM crap. :)

Hi mty, just noticed rear wiper spray is working. It's making the noise but jo water from the rear. I didn't disconnect any pipes starting to think I messed up here. Where does the water for the rear come from? Thanks

It squirts from the base of the wiper arm by the nut, upwards. Is the plastic bit that clips over the nut blocking the spray? If not, it's possible the pipe that supplies the water has come loose or is leaking. It's a common problem on these cars. When i bought mine the water was spraying inside the boot rather than onto the window.

Hi everyone, little update on the lumpy running, it has now been completely resolved I changed 3 more of the coils which didn't remove the issue and I was gutted but 2 minutes down the road starts misfiring!! I thought dam I broke it even more trying to fix it I then took the plugs out and they were all shot. New plugs in and it's now amazing never had her running like this since I've owned it. Hopefully this will help someone else to.
