I have read that people have ran the pipe through the grommet between the door hinges. I was wondering if there was another, tidier way.

Im not quite sure how the door hinge grommet routing would work but I would think that is "untidy".

The most common is going through the rubber grommet situated behind the battery. Battery needs to be removed. Alternatively you can go through the grommet for the bonnet release catch. If you look up AWE vent pod installation pdf you will see how its done on an 8P A3 which is similar layout to our cars.
