Just had a call from a dealer who queried this with SEAT. He's told me that activation codes for this will hopefully be available in September as it's still in development, a software update will be required and no doubt a fee.

It can indeed be activated post delivery of car.

VW have just updated my new car, even when I didn't order it to activate the mirror link. Although the apple part of the link is still in development the android phones work fine.

So did you take it to a VW garage or SEAT garage - do VW know more about it?

Have any Forum members actually got their Mirrorlink to work yet via Full Link, or Navigation High?

I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 which is not listed as being compatible and won't connect, though is recognised by Mirrorlink as an Android device.

However, the Samsung Galaxy S5 is compatible according to the Mirrorlink website:

https://cert.mirrorlink.com/Productlisting/

So I tried a colleagues S5, only to find it does the same as my Note 3 and won't connect?

Anyone had any joy yet?

That's annoying. Proves it's worth checking prior to a purchase of a new phone, even if listed!

Don't get confused with Mirror Link and Full Link, Mirror Link simply mirrors your phone's screen onto the car screen. Full Link takes it a step further and is essentially embedded into the car and makes full use of SIRI/Google Now and is fully Apple Car Play/Android Auto enabled and has much better app integration.
Full Link is now an option on MY16 cars (£150) but this cannot be retrofitted

Mirror link or Full link?

Thanks for that, this is the most we all know so far...

Hmmmm, not so sure here.

My understanding is that Full Link gives additional choice to android and apple users by adding Android Auto and Apple Car to Mirrorlink (3 choices of pairing), whereas Mirrorlink worked mainly with recent Android phones, though some Nokia Symbian-based phones could also connect.

Full link, is the umbrella term used by Seat which refers to the integration between smartphone and car's infotainment system.

Full link technology consists of Mirrorlink, Android-Auto and Apple Carplay.

Stupid question but I am guessing you got mirrorlink activated when you got the car? What phone do you have?

Oh good question, do you think the MirrorLink needs to be activated by the dealer - I have the Navigation High System with just MirrorLink on the main menu, not Full Link as I have very last of the MY15 I imagine which is a shame!

My phone isn't on the MirrorLink compatible list, being a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and Google Play will not let me download the SEAT DriveApp.

However, my colleagues's Galaxy S5 is listed as being compatible, but when we plugged it into the vehicle's USB, it was recognised as a Samsung Android device (mind you, so was my Note 3!), it wouldn't connect, though I am wondering if it needs the SEAT DriveApp loaded as an App first?

Link to DriveApp:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.seat.connectedcar.brand&hl=en_GB

Must admit I don't have a lot of confidence in all of this!

It's a shame that Full Link can't be retrofitted which I find very hard to believe but that's another matter entirely. I believe the Nav System High has the mirrorlink technology, depending on the date you got the car it would/wouldn't have been activated. You can find this out from the Seat dealer you got the car from and if not then they can activate it for you (needs an activation key).

The compatible smartphone needs a certified Seat App. As long as you have a compatible smartphone it will work with mirrorlink via the car's infotainment system.

quote: The smartphone doesn't need the Seat App but if you have it then it would be an easy way to see if everything is working properly. You do however have to put the compatible smartphone in the correct mode so that it will work with mirrorlink via the car's infotainment system.

Thanks for all your advice, really appreciated, but what is the "correct mode" that the phone needs to be put in?
