Hi guys,

Sorry for badgering you guys with questions lately but I've recently found some second hand alloys for fairly cheap and I wanted to make sure they fit.

I've searched the forum and online and I know the fitment for the MK2 Leon is 8jx18 ET40, PCD 5x112, Thread size M14x1.5, centre bore 57.1

I'm not sure what most of that means but my problem is, the wheels I'm after are advertised to fit VW, Audi, SEAT, etc but the only fitment information given is 18" 5x112. Is this enough to know whether or not they will fit or would I need to know more?

As always, thanks for any help :D

The ET/Offset is good to know because that will determine how far in or out the wheel will be.
Check on this site http://www.willtheyfit.com/ and play with the numbers and you will see how it changes. Click the "? The right numbers" to have the ET/Offset explained.

The centre bore diameter on the new wheel is also good to know. If it´s bigger you have to get some adaptor rings fitted otherwise it will be a pain to fit and might get wobbly.

There a different kind of bolt, radius and coned. Check with one the new wheel have or you could damage it.

Or just bring a jack and mount one wheel to make sure everything is ok. :)

Thanks mate, I'll try and get that information off him.

when I buy wheels I ask 3 things: Offset (ET), CB (center bore) and PCD (5x112 etc).

Width is also important but the above are essential :)

Not these is it?

It is them! Anyone who grabs these before me I'll go full Liam Neeson on your ass and hunt you down! . Not the best alloys in the world but money's tight and I'm after a cheap set of 18" alloys.

ET40 and a 8J rim puts the wheel dead flush with the front arches, looks nice and wide

Still haven't got the measurements, is there an easy way he can get them, I don't think he's able to. Is it sprigot rings I'd need if the bore ones were different? And I've just thought, would they need to come with wheels nuts and locking wheel nuts or will the ones on my current wheels fit?

So I gave the guy a ring today and he said the wheels have come off of his 2007 SEAT Leon so surely they will fit fine. The one problem was they don't have any locking wheel nuts but he said the one's on my current wheels should fit fine as his did. Is this correct? If not how much are wheel nuts and locking wheel nuts?

Thanks.

I misread, I thought the measurements in your original post were from these wheels. Standard offset is ET51, and they are 18x7.5. The max you can go is ET40 with an 8J rim on the fronts before they go past the front arch

Aftermarket wheels usually need a tapered bolt, whereas standard are a radius type. So you might need new bolts too.

The guys said they're off his 07 Leon so they should hopefully fit.
How do i go about getting new bolts if I need them, and which ones would I need?

Thanks.

If you're changing from standard wheels, you will most likely need to buy some tapered bolts. You also need to check what length bolts you need. Measure how far a standard bolt pokes through your standard wheel then test against the new wheel. You need new bolts long enough to poke through by roughly the same amount.

Loads of place online do them if you search for tapered wheel bolts, I used to have Team Dynamics wheels and picked up some McGard locking bolts for about £25.

How would I know if I needed some? Would they just not fit through and is it just the locking bolts I'd need?

I'd say the length won't be an issue, standard length would be fine. As said you'd just need tapered since they're aftermarket. I think I have some in my garage if you wanted them for nowt... if you wanted to drive here, after collecting the wheels? im near manchester
