Got accepted into the Show and Glow show at Bluewater next Sunday 5th. Be good to meet any members attending.

I have something planned for the rear brakes over the winter, should look awesome if I can pull it off

It involves these

I did plan to put it on air but it's so expensive it's not going to be possible. If I can move the engine up without the downpipe hitting the floor I'll try and get it lower whilst staying static instead.

You'll have to let us know how you get on with the engine plates Adam, as this could be an option for a few of us I'm sure. Are you thinking of the 15mm plates as used on the Mk4?

Rear brake build then you'll get an itch for air ;) So, the big question is, how big will the rear discs be? 330+ and I'll  it's the one and only thing I have over you hahah...

Enjoy Snow and Glo. Would love to go but travelling back from Cornwall then. I got my dates mixed and when I said I was on-call with work, I meant for the Ultimate Stance show at Telford on 2nd Nov. I'm gonna go if I'm not flying. Fingers crossed. You thought about that show?

I'll pm you on FB but it'd be good if I could pop over to Beccles over the winter months for a catch up (spy) :D

Hi buddy, your more then welcome to come and spy :cartman:

The 15mm engine spacers were fitted yesterday, everything seems to be ok but the driveshaft is so close to the chassis I think I'll need to notch it. The only problem I had was the engine cover touching the strut brace but this was easily sorted. It is the mk4 kit I used and I would say 15mm is ok but 20 would cause problems.

Rear discs will be really big if I have my way, going to see what the biggest disc I can fit in the caliper is then go from there.

I'm really looking forward to show and glow, over the moon to have been accepted for a inside position, just a shame I didn't have more notice so I could have done a few little bits of paintwork.

As for air ride ... I'll have to see if I can put in a PPI claim or something :cartman:

That'll be 356mm then  if you need to borrow my Forge disc for trial fitment, just let me know bud. Easily removed if needed and an excuse to pop over for a brew :)

I think we'll both be on air by the end of next year. Can't fight it... ;)

:lol::lol:

James your welcome round when ever you like mate.

The plan is to run a 356x28 but I need to check a few things first.

Today the front grilles were painted satin black, looks a lot better in my opinion.

Next job is to replace the door pillar vinyl decals with some 4d carbon ones, all the little things that add up ...

Were hopefully going to look at bringing the front down using some different top mounts before the weekend, fingers crossed.

I've just ordered a load of 2k satin black to do the plastics. I've always used satin in the bay as it looks so much better than a gloss finish.

Before you order the 4d stuff, have a look at the 5d stuff. Sounds bonkers but it really does look very authentic :)

The Powerflex reds give a 15mm drop by all accounts and aren't too harsh a ride.

Haha! I did want 362's but I can't find them in a 28mm thickness.

I've got polo top mounts and spring cups. I've read a few story's about the polo cups being to small so I'm going to make them a bit bigger in diameter.

I've already got the 4d stuff. I didn't even realise you could get 5d! :(

I think the black plastics will look great against the yellow! It was to much grey on my car. I did the grille to but I'm not sure if I've gone a bit to far.

As a woman would say (my wife anyway) it's all about things matching colour wise, so i think it'd look odd with the front plastics not matching. Definitely the right colour choice IMO.

I do remember reading a lot about the polo mounts. Good choice by all accounts.

Had a great weekend at Show and Glow, car got plenty of attention which is always nice.

Prep for the show consisted of polo top mounts and cups, the mounts were a direct fit even using the same bearings. The polo top caps were a bit on the small side which is worrying considering how many people just bolt them straight on, a little bit of thought and some hybrid cupra r / polo top mounts were made.

These dropped the car a further 15mm whilst still retaining the correct dampening of the coilovers. This also meant it was time for a chassis notch.

I've seen a lot of notches that don't really look safe, the standard thickness is 2-2.5mm and people seem to just weld any old bit of tin in ..... Not ideal. They also seem to grind the welds back so it looks flush, they do look better like this but it's more important in y opinion to retain the strength of the weld

My attempt.

A quick arch roll and I ended up with this, sits exactly where I want it now :D can also see the front grilles I sprayed black.

Side stripes added
