If still never but one even if you got 250bhp. Do you know what your tuning box is actually doing to your ecu??

tuning box tells your edu to add more fuel and air, therefor creating more power, it can also tell the edu to put less fuel or air to create less power, i know that ecu remaping changes the way the ecu works, if the ecu only allowed for 2ml of fuel, the new ecu would allow 3ml of fuel which is pretty much telling the ecu that the engine needs more fuel and stuff, so in other words the both do the same thing, difference being one of them works along side the original ecu while the other one changes the original ecu, so the the mapper gets it wrong, you'll have engine problems lol

So in a nut shell....your tuning box is tricking your ecu into thinking that the values that your sensors are sending to the ecu are different. Do you understand that by doing this you are rendering these sensors completely useless as they just lie to the ecu. Your box has not been written specifically for your car. A mapper will write a map specifically for how your car runs. What your saying about the mapper getting it wrong is the complete opposite. Your box has a far higher chance of causing problems as when it was written, absolutely no information from your car was used. And I'm sure 95% of the people on here would agree.

am not sure where your getting your information from, but TDI-Tuning has different maps for each car, and the unit is tuned specifically for your car and model, your more than welcomed to prove me wrong, however if your comparing the cheap ebay tuning box that just puts a generic if any map to the cheap box then please stop.

Your car? So they took your car in, did tests, checked your power output and boost pressures and set up your tuning box from the results? I think not. They did it on your model....not your car. There's a massive difference.

It'll put out less power than it claims and I can see the power curve looking more like a zig zag than a smooth curve

I'll fist myself if you prove me wrong

the have done research on the same engine with one of their staffs car, and has ran it with thousands of miles with it on, and everything works fine, ill see how mine goes and see what power output i get once i run the dyno, since thats what everyone would listen to lol

Stop trying to explain something you clearly know nothing about.

An ecu uses sensors, be them inductive, Hall effect, NTC, PTC etc. each sensor is provided with a voltage in order to work. This voltage is feed through the sensor and the varying state of said sensor alters the amount of voltage fed back to the ecu so it can accurately utilise this information and base the control over the engine on it.

What a tuning box does is manipulate the return voltage signal. The reading the ecu sees is false so it reacts how it is programmed within a limited manner. The ecu expects high fuel pressure but the box intervenes and tell the ecu the pressure is lower than expected so the ecu adds extra fuel. The ecu knows how much extra fuel but it has seen no increase in pressure so it adds more until it can add no more and reaches the height of its tolerance where it usually logs a 2nd priority fault code. The sane goes for the boost. The ecu sees lower than expected boost so it raises the pressure and the turbo has more demand put on it. It gets to a point where the ecu programming intervenes and stops any more boost, sometimes this will cause limp mode, as in a recent thread by someone else with a tuning box installed.

As I've already said - the tuning box DOES NOT WORK WITH THE ECU. It serves to trick it into working outside usual, in monitored parameters. So you tell us - what's safer? A piece of "dumb" unadaptive hardware that forces the ecu to work incorrectly or fully adaptive software that has a logic in control of what it can and can't do?

A tuning box uses resistive circuits, this is how the false signals are created.

lol your knowledge in this area is vast, thanks for the input but ill like to keep trying out this tuning box and see where it goes, will keep everyone updated as i know the are all dying to see the results even if the won't admit it lol

Can't say I've heard of the company who's Dyno it's going on. If it were Awesomes I'd consider believing the result. But who's to say you don't know the owner and to prove a point you have him fiddle with the readings? I also want to see a smooth progressive curve, not just a huge spike with a giant tail off.

There's no maps written or contained within these boxes. None. They might have varying software but that's it. It is not a map.

As I've said before....even if you get 250bhp.....I'll still be getting a remap. This is an easily decision as I can digest what people actually tell me about the differences and what I already know about tuning boxes.
