Leon FR factory 17" alloys

Our Leon FR has the factory 17" alloys fitted and I have been thinking for some time about changing the "spokes" to gray in colour.
Today I had a go, I used a dark gray plastic wrap. First I made template of the shape of the area I wanted to change to gray. I had to first fit a small piece around the hole for the wheel nut, then fit the main piece.
What do you think?

These are the standard wheels

And here is the finshed wheel

Looks good! How hard was it to do and where did you get the wrap from?

Wrap came from ebay.
It was quite easy to fit just take your time. A hot air gun makes the material much more mouldable.

Looks good, don't think I would be able to cut it that well though! Lol

Out of curiosity, how robust is the wrap? How well will it stand up to pressure washing, brake dust, etc.?

It is a big improvement over the fairly dull 17" FR alloy.

It's all in the prep. clean and degrease wheels and good quality wrap and it will last. It's the same as wrapping the whole car.

Massive improvement. I've never liked the standard 17" FR wheels - I often think the 17" upgrade alloys on my SE actually look better than those even though my car is the spec below.

Each to their own. The world would be a dreary place if we all liked the same thing. :)

IMHO none of the Leon factory wheels are particularly remarkable, I wouldn't pay good money for any of them on the options list as an upgrade. Unless you have a Cupra, 18s make your brake discs look like toys and there is no performance advantage over the 17s.

Saving grace for the standard FR 17" 5 spokes is that they are easy to keep clean.

Got to agree with that. The Dynamic 17" 30/1's do look nicer than the 30/2's fitted to the FR's. Actually they closer in design to the Performance 30/1's available as a £375 option on the FR.

Tho' the OP's wrapped FR alloys do look a million times better than standard.

Not a huge fan personally but what a great job in doing it, looks so professional.

The main reason I'm not a fan boils down to the original alloys I think, just personal preference of course.
