Had loads of work done in the past by Charlie but last time I enquired about an exhaust for the Leon he quoted me silly money so I went elsewhere.

Can't fault his work though

That's what I've just had done today at Welsh Coast Customs in Newport.

Turns out the old turbo impeller was left lodged in the cat!

Well I guess that's why it was replaced.

I was very worried when I saw him pick it up from under the car

I was really impressed with them there. Only took about 20 minutes to do. I had the cat and the centre box taken out. But there is still a Powerflow box on the back, don't understand why the previous owner put it on there.

The biggest difference is I can hear the turbo whistling a lot louder. It idles a bit deeper now, and is a fair bit louder when booting it.

But it doesn't drone at all, and is surprisingly civilised driving normally.

Edit: And of course, the turbo feels like it spools up much faster now

So overall, I'm very happy

If there are any power gains, I wouldn't say they were significant, but I was thinking it'll help me get a few more ponies in the future when I get a few more bits changed and get it remapped. It's worth it for the noise anyway.

When I changed the exhaust on the Focus though it made a MASSIVE difference. I think you would get more benefit from a de-cat in yours than I have in my sports tractor

The price was only £80, but he only had to cut out the box and the cat, and fit a 1.5m pipe.

Longlife in Caerphilly mate, Only as i made sure Pete made it (the boss) and i gave them strict instructions on how i wanted it done

Was just about to ask whether you meant the Focus or Ibiza. On a diesel its a lot more subtle and isn't anywhere near as much of a hindrance as it is on a petrol. On the Leon it transformed the car even before turning the boost and timing up.

Sports cat:

Pros: Fit and forget, huge improvement over standard but not as good as a de-cat, shouldnt have an issue with EML.

Cons: Price, not quite as free-flowing as a de-cat.

if you know a friendly MOT station or dont mind swapping the cat over once a year then i would go with a de-cat - but that's me
