If everyone was a detailer,turtle wax would be out of business,but not everyone is a detailer
Its all down to personal choice and what people are happy with! Its like people who take their cars to a car wash and have their car pummeled,if they weren't happy with the result they wouldn't do it, everyone to their own, its all personal choice
Of course but the thread suggests that if you want excellent results and for your car to shine then turtle wax after sponge washing is the answer.
My feeling is that its not something that should be preached as a good way of cleaning and looking after the paintwork on your car.
Even a basic quick wash shouldn't involve the use of a sponge, the illegals at your local 5 quid hand wash at least use wash mitts!

Immigrant hand car washes are so much better than they used to be. I thought they'd use a dirty bucket of water but they actually do a decent job!!
P.s it was my mate that went, I'd still rather do it meself than trust them sweaty mofos.
The one *cough* I've been to a couple of times* *cough* is really decent apart from the pre-wash chemicals would strip almost strip paint... they have a large trickle fed wash basin (so the water is getting recycled as they wash) which also looks to be ghetto heated by some kettle elements! And they use wash mitts rather than sponges! They also use a spray wax after which actually gives some decent beading lol!
*please bear in mind I do ~500+ miles a week and when the weather is bad I'd rather have a hand car wash than have salt/RTF all over my car for a few weeks!

I've just cleaned mine and re-applied my polish and wax.

But wait..what's that? BAD PAINTWORK!
Regardless how much "product" you put on, you will only simply fill these and as soon as you wash your car with any decent shampoo. Your filling agent will be removed.
(P.S. I've only had the car about a month...those swirls aren't my doing)

this was mine after today really crap pics though rinsed off, clayed with megs bar and dodo juice born slippy lube, washed with muc off, glazed with poorboys black hole, sealed with Finish Kare 1000p left an hour to cure then finished with a layer of poorboys nattys paste blue

How long did that take u? I want to take better care of my car, just don't have the willpower. Gets washed every other week tho
every other week is a good start tbh if you use the right products you can wash it less or just give it a blow over with a pressure washer and it will get most of the dirt off.
Something like today took about 4hrs including waiting for the sealant to cure, once you clean it from being really dirty i think it gives you more willpower to do it more

A modern product? It's been around for years under various brands CarLack68, Klasse... It's also and AIO, as a LSP there's about a gazillion products out there which will either give you a better finish or last longer.
I'll admit I have CarLack69 NSC and I do rate it as a cleanser/filler. Does a good job, but I'd always top it with a proper LSP.
