Water still getting into the rear footwell

I’m puzzled – Puddle in the rear driver side footwall only.

I’ve followed the guide on here around water getting into the car as they are like sieves, I’ve re-sealed the metal plate behind the door card which was slightly damp, and I’ve pulled the trim out surrounding the back seat on that side and the pillar.
I’ve cleaned the channels up top and along the bottom of the door

The pollen filter is dry and can’t see any signs of water getting in + the front passenger footwall is dry.

I can’t see where the water is getting in from, nothing is wet other than the floor. No matter where I pour water on the outside I can’t see it coming in. The air pipe under the seat seems dry too.

The water seems to sit in the rear driver footwall against the centre console area, It seems dry all above and around it.

The MRS was due to have a baby yesterday and still hasn’t popped and as I need the car every day for work and across the weekend I don’t really have the time to pull all the seats out and pull the carpet up as a last resort

Anyone have any ideas?

Heya mate is the drivers side front wet too? Not completely soaked but in any way damp under the floormat if you have one down?

Mine has the same issue and I've traced it back to the scuttle panel, There's a compartment under the scuttle panel which houses the bonnet pull, the ECU and there's another piece which I can't remember but they're housed in foam and the same stuff used to seal the doors so my guess is it'd be that?

If you have time and a willing assistant grab a bucket of water and slowly trickle it down the drivers side of the window while you pop your head into the drivers side footwell

By the throttle pedal just to the right of it there's a small piece of plastic (It's difficult to describe but easy to see when you're looking and when I did it I found that it was seeping through under the plastic and dripping down / through.

The fun part is trying to remove your wiper arms without breaking the windscreen as the arms maybe corroded on so removal can be a pig. I've recently bought a wiper arm removal tool and I can't get under the wiper arms as there's not enough space to do so so I'm stuck now what to do next lol

Good luck and if I'm wrong I apologise for the long / drawn out post :)

Good luck

Ryan

(at work so will be short and brief )

That’s something I can double check, From what I saw its bone dry. I pulled the mats up and pressed down hard and no water came up through or even remotely felt damp. However the rear… Put your foot in and push and be surrounded by water

I will have to go out and check this! as it sounds like something definably worth checking again.

Just taken a look in my work lunch, Everything around that area is bone dry got my hand around the plastics, I've pulled the panel off where the drives seatbelt goes and the logn part along the bottom of the doors. everything is dry.

Its almost like there is a hole underneath the car which is some magical one way value letting water in but not out

Just to clarify I mean above the mats, When you lift your front mat up, There's a rectangle built into the carpet, just above there on the right hand side is where it's coming in most likely? Is the car on a slope when it's parked etc as the water maybe coming in from the boot and dripping through perhaps? I don't know how the floorpans on these are but that'd be my guess unless it's the rear drivers side?

The only reason I mention is I've poured water in from all doors and found nothing then found out about the scuttle panel and it's bypassing straight into the rear footwell :(

If it's passenger side it maybe the pollen filter? I've checked my scuttle panel and under the wiper arms it was b***dy filthy / covered in c**p so it's possible it's clogged up underneath too?

How can the pollen filter soak the rear passenger footwell? When your open the doors front and rear it pours off the seal so def think it's the door seals

Same way that the scuttle panel can soak the rear drivers side one.

I've checked / double checked both doors / checked them again with a bucket of water being trickled down the outside of the window and found nothing whatsoever being trickled in from the doors

Yet I've got this

Was the door seals but think I missed a few spots around the speaker so redone the lot and also put butyl tape around the metal plate in top so it joins with the sealant underneath.
