I have a completly standard Cupra R 225 and im interested in the Stage 1 Remap to get it up to about 280.
Is this too much for the front wheels with everything else standard? as i would still like to go round corners!

You won't see 280bhp with just a remap, approx 250-270 although if you want to see the latter, it might be worth doing a couple of other mods before the remap. As I understand from uber amounts of research on here, I would go for a Forge 007p Diverter Valve, K&N/Green panel filter and smoothed airbox or an open cone filter with a shield such as the Jabba one or Neuspeed P-Flo and an upgraded Turbo Inlet Pipe.

That amount of power shouldn't be too much for the car to handle and there are many people on here that have never looked back since their remaps.

Hope that helps :)

I had the same concerns when before I had mine done.

Don't worry, it's fine. The TCS is pretty good, but once you get used to it you'll be driving everywhere with the TCS off.

Also, you don't HAVE to drive everywhere at full throttle, and tyre choice can make a big difference, especially in damp/off-wet conditions.

Do it.

In my opinion There are two aproaches to making the LCR faster, the first which is the one most go for is more power and the second is better handling.
Going for a remap gives the most enjoyment and makes it faster by a fair bit in a straight line but when you come to the corners you are still relying on the stock suspension.
The difference a set of ARB'S make to the performance of the car is also very noticable and makes it miles better in the corners and makes the most of the power that the LCR has already.A fast car isnt always the one with the most power.
The remap does give the biggest grin factor though but you wont see 280hp as already mentioned without some other serious spending on mods.To be honest its not the increase in power you will notice most, more the big increase in torque.

As grey225 said the torque is the main noticable difference in the LCR's. I personnaly have never seen an LCR do more than 275ish on a standard turbo, and that is with a full exhaust system, air filter, intercooler and stage 2 mapping. A stage 1 remap should see a standard car up to around 255ish realistically. The main thing to remember though, is not to just look at peak power figures, but how the rest of the drive is affected. There are so many tuning companies out there now that it is best to do as much homework as you can, try whatever free trials you can too. We offer the APR software and we can do a 6 hour free driving time trial for you, no obligation, gives you 6 hours of driving time then simply reverts back to stock. We also have a special offer on at the moment for the mapping with additional programs and cruise control fitment allowing switchability between numerous different maps and additional features.

is it true that the bam engine cupra r has weak conrods? . with the hybrid turbo full exhaust and st1 remap to suit might getting 300 bhp at fly if not a little more already 275.5 bhp at fly with first remap but before i got it it had a engine change because of a conrod coming through the bottom of the engine. is it worth doing while its in the garage having the turbo and exhaust fitted?

Rods would be needed for a hybrid without a doubt.

I have 268bhp @ the fly and 237bhp@ the wheels so you should be around that sort of figure
