It's all well and good saying the DSG is better, but what's cheaper to fix when it goes bang.
I drove 2 R32 MK5's the weekend.
I felt completely lost with regards to the DSG, didn't feel connected to the car what so ever.
Jumped straight in the Manuel and felt home.
Yes 99.9% of the time the DSG will be a faster gear change, but where's the fun in that?

My best 60' times are in the low 1.7's, so I reckon I can still knock a few more tenths off. APR's stage 3 Golf R managed an 11.59 with a terminal of 116mph, so it is definitely doable.

Sub 12 seconds on an official strip has alwas been my target and next year that will be achieved. I'm also keen to drop a sub 8 min bridge to gantry time at the Nurburgring in the R. My fastest previous is an 8'13" for a full lap in the Edition 30 I had and that was stripped out on semi-slicks, BBK, full suspension and just about everything else thrown at it.[B)]

Originally I also wanted to do the 0-60 in under 5 seconds and the 0-100 in under 10 seconds. They went a while ago. LOL

it looks so effortless

I had a Golf GTI with DSG and it takes a while to get used to it. When you hit a good twisty stretch of road the paddles are intuitive and being able to change gear mid corner with out un settling the car is a bonus. I hear the new DSG boxes are better than the older ones as well.
Lovely car and nice mod list by the way.

Using the DSG on a bendy B road is awesome. I also have decent paddle extensions which makes using them even more intuitive. [B)]

The only thing was if I held on to a gear to long. Hit the paddle the same time as hitting the limiter and went up two gears at once. That always put a stop to the fun!

Mine has a hard limit in manual, so it will only gear up when I pull the paddle. :)

Update.....

Decided to go a little further and the car will be having the L04XX fitted over the winter.

Took the car out for some snaps as it has just had its winter wax protection done. [B)]

It's the perfect package. Looks mean, sportscar performance, all rolled into a popular hatchback. How's the MPG on this beast ?

Last week after a few more tweaks I ended up with this....371WHP on a hub dyno. Equates to well over 400bhp.[B)]

Do you have DCC on this car John? Is it a worthwhile thing to add in your opinion?

Which acronym are you referring to? DCC can be either dual climate control or Dynamic chassis control.

Both are well worth it. I dont have chassis control on my car and if I had I would have gone with aftermarket coilovers anyway and removed it.[B)]
