I like front drive too. However to be able to use that in poor weather, especially on quick getaways, 4 wheel drive is always gonna win :)

Yes Al, 4wd will shine in poor weather conditions and would be more appropriate for the use you would put it to. However, I would much rather have a cheaper to buy, lighter car, good mechanical diff and lower running costs that a fwd will offer. I don't suffer the poor driving conditions you do and am quite happy to leave my quick driving to dry roads. I would expect to be able to achieve 300bhp and 1200kg with the mk3.

location , location
All of the cars so far come in under 1350kg kerb weight with the 2.0TDI 184 being the heaviest so the cupra should be lighter

Is that DSG or maunual?
And what was the mule , DSG or Manual?

Al trouble is your looking at it from a moddified car aspect of upping the BHP by 100 or so , as a production car with todays technology on suspension and geometry there is no need for 4wd under 300 BHP.

But i hear you ask so why has the S3 and Golf R got 4wd?
because that model has been in the line up for years , Audi in well known for Quattro and 4wd in the golf marks their top of the range car.
also dont forget the factorys mapping doesnt give you a massive wave of unsable torque , like a Mapped car would.
Also i think JB's comment about the 4wd ST also indicates that the Cupra will not be 4wd

Like i said from day one
anyway doesnt stop us dreaming

:)

However that said, 2 wheel drive is still enough even with 240bhp in the MK2 Leon Cupra and more weight to spin up the wheels with standard code in the damp/wet.

Regardless, SEAT have taken too long with their screwing around and without not knowing what the specification of whats coming, I have made up my mind what I'm getting and the order is going in tomorrow :)

Yeah . I have the same situation. Can't wait any longer and have to go for another option than Cupra. Sadly SEAT is not reacting quick enough to new engines or they are forced to wait by VW Group?!

You sure about that? The mk3 has been out less time than the Golf and the R won't be here until Feb/Mar at the earliest so the Mk3 LC isn't likely to be ahead of it.

Exactly. Some information might have secured my business. Too late now though :D

Just been into my dealer and they have ordered a Cupra. From their information it's 4wd and only available in DSG for a least a few months, expected delivery March. I was just about to order a Golf R, now I'm torn.

From Syphon's translated equipment list it seems to me, that the Cupra doesn't have front fog lights? Also I'm not too keen, that the standard rim size seems to be 19" for the Cupra....
And, I spotted the keyless entry system - that's new to the whole Leon range I believe?

Can't see it Ryan. It would buck a trend of front drive Leon Cupra's, it would give no real space for a Cupra R and then this

Yes, and yes there will be a Leon ST Cupra :p

The AWD ST now looks unlikely to hit the UK market though
