Why are SEAT always so late to the market with their performance versions?! Almost makes me and I am sure others disinterested in the brand cause you end up waiting for far too long whilst other manufacturers release theirs much earlier [even Skoda do]. So frustrating that they do this and I can almost predict that when they reveal it probably wont be much different to FR version which will make people think its boring or not good value for money. Final thought will be "is this what we been waiting for?"

Yeah second that. I myself waited for Leon FR 220, but when no show, bought the new Skoda Octavia RS because of it's cheap price and very good standard equipment, almost everything included in basic price. Kessy, AFS double xenon lights, light assistant etc. Did also a good lap time on Nordschleife 8.30, VW Golf GTI Performance 230 hp 8.29. Why present a performance model latest in the segment (Audi, VW, Skoda). Was very disappointed because of some 1.8 l /180 hp engine on top. Big difference in acceleration 100-200 between 1.8/180 hp and 2.0/220 hp, over 10 seconds and top speed. SEAT should present the performance models faster or then VW Group decides, who knows.

"Our department informed us that there is no binding information for the final model name from the Spanish car manufacturer. Fact is that the model will debut in early 2014, with or without R."

You never know. I was under the impression it was next year so when he said that I was a bit shocked. Surely it would have been unveiled at the frankfurt motor show if that was the case.

They were never going to unveil it at Frankfurt as that would steal thunder from the ST. We were told SEAT were trying to show something before the end of this year (that was a while back though), but availability wouldn't be until Spring (the latter remains true). Would be surprised if we see anything this year now. However I like surprises though. :)

Well I think they lost customers by now, everyone placed their orders for new ST, Gti, Vrs, S3, Pug gti, citreon ds etc... They just take too long and frankly extremely bored with them.

The only way they are going to loose customers is if the Cupra / R or what ever they call it dissapoints.

I follwed a new shape Leon TSI on the A3 on Sunday and from a distance i thought it was a new Ibiza and did so until i was right on top of it and saw the Leon badge , imho they are going to have to make the Cupra very special because the new leon is fug ugly !

I like the MK3 that much that my parents are in the process of buying one over a MK2 Supercopa.

The cupra needs to be fun.. the Cupra R needs to be alot different

so it seems a toned down "grown up" look is set for the cupra. How disappointing actually as i was hoping for a somewhat more aggressive look. Hopefully the end result will be a bit different.

Jeeeez that's an annoying camouflage print! Cant really make out the details with that on, the first photo looks like their is a splitter at the front but cant make it out on the other photos. Would assume that the rear will have a black diffuser, cant see it being all body colour as per the camouflage and nice having 2 oval exhausts assuming one isn't fake!

No splitter. Car is running 19" Mk2 Cupra R wheels.. 370mm TTRS brakes and yes it's got a rear diffuser.
