Thanks chaps.

I won't be selling any time soon, but if I ever did, I'll keep you in mind Seal ;) when we went Audi the other week to scout our new family car, a techie there offered me a good sum, but what else would I tinker with!

Things aren't so good on the car front ATM. With the sun out, wife and son out and an early stack from work, I thought I'd take the car out for a spin. Nope... The TCS light has perminently come on and as soon as it boosts the engine has a horrible cut back. Could the N75 valve have gone? Could I have not put something back together properly? It was running spot on before I replaced the TIP and MAF last week...hhmmm :shrug:I'll do some reading, but if anyone has experienced this, pointers would be appreciated.

Feeling a little deflated, this was made worse by discovering that a neighbour had signed for the missing Forge 008 dump valve, but has denied doing so. It's with Royal Mail to sort but FFS!! Not a happy bunny and need to regroup :(

I've had a look at my air tank which has arrived, but I just can't get enthused with it today...

I'm thinking that I'll mount it to the back seat rather than the floor. I'll have a play and try to not make it look like it's widely out of place. The ancillaries have started to turn up too, so I can be getting on with it once I've regrouped :)

Have you scanned the car yet? Could be the MAF, but does sound like something electrical (connection) has died..

Great car! Will you be getting it mapped at some point?

I will mate but my thoughts are similar to yours. The engines on its original internals and clutch, and there's a slight bit of play in the compressor wheel of the tubby. The engine will be my next big project after the body work.

I did have a chat with him but i was in my work clobber and it wouldn't have been appropriate for to be accusing a junior... I'm sure it'll be resolved. Just want my valve now :ban:

I haven't yet Tom but I'll do it at some point. The MAF is spanking new so hopefully it's not that. I'll have a root around and see what I've done...

It sounds daft but did you put he MAF on the correct war around? There's an arrow an when I replaced my TIP I put it on in the wrong direction. The TCS uses the MAF and the light came on. It's a school boy error but easily done.

Could be the N75 on its way out mate, but its hard to tell with these cars without plugging it in =/

As Redbull says, TCS light comes on when you disconnect the MAFS then eventually goes out

James what have you used to hold the spare wheel in place ?

Thanks D.K. The wheel is wedged in pretty tight with the sound deadening and cables. To ensure that the wheel is secured when driving, the cover is clipped in. If the compressor wasn't in the middle of the well, I'd use an extended bolt to hold it in place. I'm all about safety so it was important to know that the wheel wouldn't go anywhere if the car was to roll...

I haven't had much time to have a look today but I remember installing it the right way round. I might connect my old one in to rule out a dudd new MAF... Thanks for the pointers guys :D

One step forward, two steps back...

Well, you guys were right! The MAF was the culprit. New dudd MAF. My original is back on and running perfectly. I'll be sorting out a replacement for the dudd one :D

So after a nice spirited drive this morning, I set about sorting out the wiring and relocating bits in preparation for my revised air set up. With wires re-routed, I went about testing for air leaks. Nice and air tight, apart from the compressor is leaking air :cry: I've serviced the chambers, and now I'm left with 2 options.... Either replace the compressor or try a hydraulic check valve. I should have run one anyway, so I've bought a check valve and some extra BSP fittings, so we'll see what difference that makes. I was even thinking about running hard lines but I've been side tracked by this set back. I was kicked in the slats further by the rain arriving mid afternoon and forcing me to leave the interior in bits... I've got a couple of days off mid-week so I'll hopefully get back on track then...

So, I'm just waiting on my parts from the States to arrive then I can at least get it all plumbed in and reliably working. It will make such a difference to the function of the helper system.

Not terribly exciting I know.... :ban:

Well, it's been a little while since I updated last. I've been chipping away as and when I've had a spare moment. My main focus has been to plumb in the air tank for the front air lift helpers. It has turned out pretty well tbh. Function is so much better; the front raises within a second or two for those bumps and humps. My main concern was with how the tank would aesthetically settle into the boot considering how happy I was with the previous set-up. It's fitted in soundly and doesn't look ridiculous. As always, attention to detail is key, so all the fittings and layout of wires and airlines has been carefully planned. Pretty happy. Unfortunately my wife and our son have travelled down south to see her brother for a couple of days and has taken the camera with the photos on. I'll take some more on Thursday when I should hopefully have a day off to work to spend on the car :)

There is a bit of a theme brewing in that it's two steps forward and one step back atm. My compressor is goosed so I've taken the plunge and bought a proper AirLift compressor which should be with me by Thursday. Then it'll get a major wash as, shamefully, I haven't washed it since it came out of winter storage... :ban:

Well, with a day off, my wife and son away for the day and the sun shining, I found some time for the car today. Really enjoyed the day actually!

First off, I took some pictures of the air tank, so that you can see how it's been mounted. What do you think?

My compressor didn't arrive today but should hopefully be here by the weekend at the latest, then it's all done (again) :blink: Really pleased with how it functions.

I then set about cleaning the interior, although it didn't need doing as it never goes anywhere these days. I like my 225 flagged mats but never really liked the grey. So, using AutoBrite Black Dye, I dyed them.

They came up pretty well actually and suit the interior down to a tee.

Shamefully, the car hadn't been washed since it came out of winter storage in Feb :ban: So, the car was snow foamed, washed, clayed, given a correction and a wax. Wheels were given a wax and plastics treated too - All with Megs products.

For an almost 10 year car, it's not in bad shape. Don't let the pictures deceive you - I'm being honest here - The paint is well passed its best! Although there's not a swirl in sight and very few chips, I have now encountered the dreaded lacquer peel :cry: I've been wanting the car resprayed so this discovery is fine, although it feels like having a less than good looking Mrs - you would avoid introducing her to your mates :hide:

Once the new family car is purchased and our summer holiday is out of the way in September, I'll seriously consider getting it done then. It'll probably turn into a nice winter project where I'll fit some other bits that I have planned and it will then get a good tour of the shows next year. Not very exciting but thanks for reading :)

Still looks good as ever mate. Some great work going on for the air tank. Looks really tidy :)

Respray and maybe new wheels for 2014 season!? ;)
