Hi All,

I am soon picking up my new Cupra R (well almost new, sub 5k on the clock)

So I have pretty much decided that Stage 2+ is the proferred option.

I'm leaning towards the Revo route, I've had a quote from a Revo specialist and am looking at the following:

- Turbo Back Exhaust with Sports or De-cat (quiet one! lol)

- High Flow Intake System with correct MAF scaling (view info)

- Uprated High Pressure Fuel Pump (view info)

- Uprated Intercooler (view info)

- Uprated Engine Mounts (view info)

- PCV Revamp kit (view info)

One item i'm not too keen on is the Revo high flow intake, mainly because it involves permanently removing the engine cover which does not look good!

If I install a Green Cotton Filter Element instead into the factory box, can anyone advise on the the likely outcome?

Reading the forums, it appears that the green cotton filters are by far the best replacement elements on the market and they do not eat your MAF sensor like the horror stories mentioned about K&N

Ultimately I would be happy with a power output approx 360BHP. Revo on the phone said that one of their customers in Scotland got 387bhp with the list of kit as above when using the proper cone filter induction assembly.

One other question, can anyone with a stage 2+ advise on the pro's and con's of the linear throttle control option? (no extra cost apparently)

Thanks in advance

Running stage 2+ I would do the intake system. You can always cut the engine cover and refit it as a cosmetic fitting. For best results the intake is recommended. Linear throttle is worthwhile as it is a lot smoother. You will really love the power from 2+, I miss my cupra a lot nowadays and honestly regret selling it up.

360bhp is realistic. I don't think you'll get that without an intake though. I'm not going to get in to the 387bhp debate - it'll just rumble on and on with the same outcome.

OEM engine covers can be modified to fit some after market intakes. An alternative is to get Evoms intake (the best around) and an Evoms engine cover. Or to get an intake of your choosing and a TTS engine cover.

Statller do some pretty nice looking modified TTS engine covers. I would also recommend them very highly for any works to be carried out. They are a GIAC or Revo dealer and are based just down the road in Sheffield.

What are your plans to make it handle properly and put the power down? Engine mounts are a good start.

Well basically i'm looking to install both the Revo uprated engine mounts and the transmission mount as well. The Revo sales adviser said he had a cupra himself and that he'd done the above, said it dramitaclly rediced the hopping on the front wheels

I'm hoping that's all i need? can only assume if there was something more drastic required then Revo would have already recommended it? (hopefully that's the case...)

Uprated suspension?? urghhhh do i need it? you got me worried now lol I cant stretch my budget any further for now really, also fear that the more mods I do the more A****n F**x will rub their hands together! lol

To be honest, i'm don't think I'm really the sort of driver who will be plowing into corners too fast, I need to keep my licence so any foot down sessions will have to be in short bursts only (prob on the straight!)

I currently drive a BMW118d! (company car, not by choice!) if that gives you some idea of my experience with super cars! lol

Ultimately the upgrade to any stage scares me a little (the delicate subject of warranty as in lack of it once I started playing with it :(

A working intake plays a big part in utilising the software in stage 2+, each component on the stage build guides play a vital role in creating the best results.

With the correct hardware installed and well setup software there's no reason why you can't see 360bhp+ with a great torque curve and fantastic drivability.

If you're worried about your warranty then I'm afraid stage 2+ hardware is not exactly discreet.

You'll need uprated bypass valve (diverter valve)

not true really. If he's got a Rev D or Rev G fitted that's fine

I am only stage 2 at the moment and my RR clearly showed that the standard intake box was causing me to lose power at the top end when i hit 4.5K.

I would also say You might want an LSD to keep the power down.

I am an APR guy and the reason for this was simple...... No charge for upgrading MAPs from stage 1,2 and 2+ and they let you switch maps using the cruise control stick.

Defo Need a clutch to go with that, my LCR clutch slips with just the Stage 2 Map and some people slip with just a stage 1 map.

Engine Mounts, On previous cars I have just done the Dog Bone, Ill be doing the same with the LCR. The other mounts are fine.

I forgot to mention that the clutch has already been uprated by my LCR previous owner.

How much are the uprated engine mounts?
