Car looks great rich. Love the Recaros and I know I gave you the idea about the hyper silver wheels, I'm doing mine the same colour in the future. They stand out so well on a silver car, imagine what they would do for a black car ;) keep up the good work

James (Doctor Gonzo) and Dolby have both done bright oem wheels already :) Gonzo's look epic up close against a well detailed black LCR.

Thanks Sam, yes you did, also the black rear lights you photo shopped onto it. HPS wheels will look great on yours, are you running OEM wheels now?

Engines ran in, oils been changed, new plugs (0.04 gap) and new oil filter.

Had a few issues with it, when I'd finished running it in and showed it some boost it was only hitting 1.1 bar (if that at times), instead of the 1.6 I had previously been seeing. There was also a quick squeak when the boost was building. Had a smoke test and found no leaks, I began to think the worst (turbo), but on 38k miles I really couldn't see how that could be. So today I thought I would check the turbo outlet for any splits, no need, I took the heatshield off and noticed the jubilee clip was missing from the turbo end, looked further down and there it was hanging around the turbo :doh: can't believe it was as simple as refitting and tightening it up. Really should've looked earlier. So the car is now running great :) and at one point when I booted it I looked up at the boost gauge and saw 1.9 bar and it held at 1.7 :D. Really had some fun in it today.

I've also serviced the 008, fitted a new N75 and replaced the dead MAF.

Playing with the idea of a Forge actuator now :think:

Sounds good are you getting it mapped again?
I read somewhere maybe on ASN that the forge actuators aren't that great. If I remember correctly its something to do with to short a travel?

:confused: I heard the opposite on vagcars, forge actuator with a yellow spring and it'll hold boost for longer. If I get an actuator then yes, it will be getting mapped again otherwise I'll just have a play with the SPS

More info I got from Forge:

"The correct replacement actuator for the 1.8T 225BHP Leon Cupra R KO4 turbo actuator is our part number FMACVAG01. We cannot recommend from a stage 2 reference what you may need and it may be better to ask this question of the tuner who mapped the engine (or the tuner is going to). You do not have to run an actuator in but mapping may be required ensuring the ECU recognised spool up matches the fitted spring – I have included the spring selection guide below showing the relevant springs and their spool up/running pressures.

The following is general information regarding Forge actuator spring tensions and are important considerations when making a decision on which spring you install, especially if you are running a boost controller or have an ECU upgrade.

The 4 springs we offer are listed below under their relevant colour codes and related pressure ratings. Running pressure is the lowest or minimum pressure the spring will operate at, which is important when considering which spring you choose. The spool up pressure is the vacuum pressure required start the spring moving, at which point the turbo waste-gate will start to open (spool up).

The actual rating for these springs is as follows, the lower pressure being the spool up pressure and the higher pressure being the running pressure:



RED 17 psi (spool up) - 20 psi (running pressure) our product code FMAS049R.

BLUE 14 psi (spool up) - 18 psi (running pressure) our product code FMAS049B.

YELLOW 9 psi (spool up) - 15 psi (running pressure) our product code FMAS049Y.

GREEN 5 psi (spool up) - 10 psi (running pressure) our product code FMAS049G – fitted as standard replacement.



The spool up can be altered to a higher pressure by adding more tension to the spring. Be careful not to add too much tension to the spring as it will become coil bound, affecting the rod travel and thus affect the waste-gates ability to open effectively. There is a common misconception that the operating pressure of the spring can be increased by mounting the actuator rod to the waste-gate arm in such a way that the spring is under more load than the recommended above. "

It's an interesting option I be interested to see how you get on with it. Do you think you'll go hybrid or BT at some point?

Not anytime soon, still need my own place. Just trying to get the best out of the k04. It might even get WMI in the future. Following that, if I end up with the funds in the future pretty much everything else will be in place ready for a hybrid/BT. Unless the mk3 LCR looks like the cup racer, if it does I'll want one of those :D

I like the power delivery of the K04 and its plenty fast enough on the road. Having said the a beach buggy hybrid or GT28 wouldn't be a bad idea.
