How did you decide... ITG v P-Flo???

So I now need to change this thread title to ITG v VWR v REVO...!!!!

I'm torn mainly between ITG and VWR - quite sure the difference is negligible.

Would be interested to know who the 'mystery' competitor was who REVO compared theres against.

Logic tells me that because I have APR software and WILL be sticking with APR then any future maps they produce will be based on hardware like the VWR.

So glad the weather up here is that crap I can't do anything with the car.... :(

See I don't see how there is much if any difference in the intakes as after all they're going through a 2.5" hole, so no matter how much suction they have they'll all hit a bottle neck with the turbo intake. I think a lot of it is psychological, the more I pay the better it will be!!

I wanted to get a ITG but found it to expensive and got an Evoms v-flow intake in the end.
It sits between p-flo and ITG pricewise but gives one of the best gains on k04 engines

Another vote for evoms here. I'm sure Al will agree also.

One of, if not the best K04 intake for keeping fuel trims in check.

Yes. But keep MAF reading/accurate MAF housing in mind though.

Some have more turbulent air flow around the MAF sensor which can cause low MAF readings → low fuel flow. There will be only correction afterwards because the car will notice it is running lean and will correct with more fuel.

My opinion is that your always one step behind if thats the case and your car will feel a but luggish on lower-ish revs.

Ok, so now there is something to think about and consider - MAF airflow. I guess the Evoms is now on the radar.

It would also give me some change in the back pocket too....

I think there are a couple of 2nd hand Evoms intakes going on MK5golfgti.co.uk. One that gazon69 is/was selling is like new. Comes with the head shield too.

From what ive herd the vwr one doesnt really perform that well. The airflow isnt as great as you'd might expect from the front outlet. Thats what ITG said when they were testing it a few years back. Thats backed up by forge's twintake aswell, hence the extra intake to the side.

Theres more airflow from down by the fog light area, especially when you add some ducting. Evoms has always been a good intake with that huge filter. Itg is along the same lines and the Revo is just a facelift with a few improvements of the ITG imo, with all the jubilee clips smoothed out and a better heatshield for example.

Take from that what you all want.

I'm currently doing a lot of research over all the relevant forums and the ITG seems to be the popular choice, although i'm not too keen on the DIY look of it - it looks like a blooming model kit to put together!!!!

After some research it looks like the VWR jobbie is an old ITG invention.

Think i'm leaning towards the EVOMS right now... and will be looking to 'duct' air from down below along with some sort of 'heat wrap' to reduce heat soak.

Evoms is just as good as the itg and looks better. Revo is as above, basically an ITG minus the jubilee clips and a better heatshield.

P-flow lacks in filter size and thats why its never been able to compete with the above lot.

Id be going for either an evoms, but it is loud or the Revo which is supposed to be fairly quiet. Quieter than the ITG anyway. Tbh my ITG isnt loud at all really.

Itg looked into doing what VWR have done but to make it worth it, the filter had to be massive, so the battery had to be moved out the way iirc. So VWR have obviously downsized it all, which will effect the intakes performance.

Link to the pipercross? Only ones i can find look nothing like the Revo.

Im sticking with ITG hybrid but smoothed out and new heatshield :D

It would make sense as Revo had a fair bit of influence on the ITG iirc.

Thats for the TSI engine and is identical to the one that Revo sells on there website but the TFSI one is Revo's own "hybrid" of the ITG no doubt about it.

See http://www.revohardware.com/p/82/revo-full-air-filter-intake-for-vw-golf-mk6-scirocco-20-tsi

And the tfsi http://www.revohardware.com/p/112/revo-high-flow-air-intake-system-20tfsi-k03k04

See what you mean. If you look here: http://www.ibizaclub.gr/community/uploads/garage_images/image_url-8183-1301241300.jpg

The Revo K04 intake looks a lot like an ITG, but looks smoothed out and has a lot of clips removed.

Ok, decision made...

...Evoms it is. I've found it on the Regal shop but is there anywhere else I can pick one up from?

I would've gone for the ITG but wasn't happy about the airflow within the intake given its plentiful bits and pieces to put it together. The Evoms looks much smoother and I refuse to pay £420 for the Revo jobby.

Im sure someone tried ordering one from Regal recently but had problems

Statllers might have one in stock, they fit quite a few of these, there's not that many dealers in the UK tbh.
